No doubt he has accomplished a lot in his life, he could have quit after making tens of millions from being forced out of the precursor to PayPal.
That being said, his current business is being somewhat propped up by govt subsidies, regulatory favoritism, and being a defense contractor. He played the Fiat game incredibly well. If he is a historical figure, it is due to the environments of his time.
Most historical figures are not special, they happen to be the right person at the right time.

Universities do a lot of talking about how there are plenty of jobs in STEM, but rarely do they say you'd have to relocate halfway around the world to get a position.
I went to school in my hometown and had my first job out of University at a nearby city. Fiat Economics want children to abandon their parents and siblings.
I'm looking to get an MBA to check a box and be eligible for jobs in my local economy, just so I can be there for my family. Don't know how I'd feel about the future of the global economy if it wasn't for #Bitcoin
