One of my favorite strategy games ever just got a mod update 4 hours ago. Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds + Expanding Fronts mod is a lot of fun. The Expanding Fronts mod adds both Disney canon factions and Old EU factions like the New Republic & Imperial Remnant as well as balancing fixes to the existing factions from the base game and Clone Campaign expansion. I have been playing this on and off since the base game was released in 2001 so over 22 years now.

Even with games, it's stupid easy with Lutris and even easier with Steam + Proton. Gaming on Linux has come a long way since the early days with the contributions of Valve. It's only games made between 2007-2012 that I have had issues running if their isn't a install script. Most popular games are catalogued and have an install script so it's pretty point and click. Graphics drives aren't an issue anymore either as Mint pre-installs the Nvidia stuff and with the recent open sourcing Nouveau should get better.

With all the updates that brick Windows 10 or 11 and or make it slow as shit, I don't know how people put up with it. I have had this laptop for about 6 years now running Mint and I haven't gotten any problems, yet if I compare with parents newer laptop running Windows 11 I have had to fix botched updates by Microsoft 5 times in the past 1 1/2 year since it was bought and this 6 year old laptop runs circles around it on boot and doing anything.
For any specialty programs I use Lutris with an install script for convenience (has more than just games) or I google to find out what special dependencies the program might need for the WinePrefix.
Look... I get it... you just dropped a monthly mortgage payment on a phone, but sometimes you have to cut your losses. The iPhone will never allow you to be free to do what you want with it and they are a censorious company. Why support that with your money?

If they didn't wake up with all of the serious data breaches like ICloud long ago, I don't think they ever will.
Might be controversial, but same goes for Windows users, no excuses not to be using something like Mint/Ubuntu/PopOS + Wine, it's stupidly easy to install things with Lutris and Bottles. System76 and other companies make OEM laptops with Linux already installed.
It's Stockholm Syndrome, they know it's bad and even willfully acknowledge it, but they won't vote with their wallet on new purchases. They continue on with the abusive relationship and defend them even when it defies logic.

In just a matter of hours we have had 3 high profile incidents involving #Bitcoin and #nostr We are now in the" we fight you" stage of growth for #nostr For my Android brethern we are not safe and it's a matter of time before Google banishes us from the Play store.
So as a community we must remain steadfast and develop solutions and decrease our reliance on them. We have some of the brightest minds on the platform and a clever solution will be found. The more they ban us, the more the Streisand Effect will kick into overdrive on their actions, I am not worried about adoption. People will find us here on this little island of freedom in cyberspace.
