I compare it to a gold-backed paper currency (deposit gold, get cash, move it around, can be redeemed for the same gold), but I guess casino chips are basically the same thing!
Funny thing is that a giod bunch of the population thinks we still have gold-backed paper currency. Not many know of fiat, as a word or a concept.
To be fair, nostr notes are not meant to survive forever. We have yet to see how the nostr services are shaped with enough users to consider data retention and pricing.
I expect every service to be paid, even relays (note passing, how can it be free and avoid spam attacks?) and data retention (who will store your data for free?).
Maybe those will be handled by the same service provider. NSP?
B, except "get ecash". I'd prefer "redeem ecash" or "receive ecash". Get is usually used implying "buy", it will confuse people.

Mints should not be able to know who you are or censor based on IP addresses. I hope this becomes the standard! Nostr as a possible transport layer is another very useful option!
I feel like all current LN wallets are transient and will be replaced by ecash wallets, and we'll start with custodial ones (WoS). Why have your money in a custodial LN-compatible accounting system, instead of a custodial but private LN-compatible ecash wallet? Will WoS convert to a mint? Will every big LN node become a mint?
If you can do it cheaper, do it. If the new widget is useless, don't buy their product.
The only problem in all this are patents and copyrights, which disable healthy competition.

I haven't run the numbers, but a huge percentage of websites are inaccessible through a VPN, and it's a PITA for daily use.
I've even tried to enter a restaurant menu by scanning the QR code and it wouldn't load (no error message), because I was using a VPN.
I would imagine TOR is blocked even more than VPNs.
What if the web worked through BTC/LN, and every page load charged a very very small amount automatically?
