Hey nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s nostr:npub1h50pnxqw9jg7dhr906fvy4mze2yzawf895jhnc3p7qmljdugm6gsrurqev let me know if bug reports/support requests should go elsewhere.

One thing I’m noticing in Damus still is inconsistent display of the Zap button. It often doesn’t display at all in my feed, and sometimes when I click on a note it will appear, but be unclickable.

Let me know if I can provide any information.

IMO, the sweet spot is believing in an afterlife that is made better by how much you improve this world. If you view the money you leave to your children/inheritors as part of a lasting good in the world, it powers a drive to achieve greatness in this life too.

Not that weekly price of BTC matters much, but it’s still fun to track and talk about, kind of like following sports. With that frame of mind…

Looks like BTC price is moving up over the weekend. I’m expecting positive price action during the week. Expectation: we break $105k some time this week. I don’t think we get as high as $110k but it wouldn’t shock me.

I've been getting onboarded to Nostr over the past week, and the pain of Lightning and especially non-custodial wallets is really. I'm not disagreeing with that. However, it's not like Monero is trivial and easy either, I very nearly couldn't recover my XMR when I decided to liquidate.

Point being: I'm not really trying to judge the systems based on today's usability, which IMO sucks fairly universally. It's based on which technology has the best potential. For me, BTC as wealth, store of value, and ultimately unit of account, with Lightning providing medium of exchange capabilities, seems like a great combination of monetary design and privacy.

Lightning is the one I'm most familiar with (though admittedly not deeply familiar). I think Cashu and other protocols are providing that too. To my knowledge, no one has been able to "break" Lightning's privacy yet.

The IRS bounty was the first time I heard of this. There may be more recent information than this (in which case I'd love to hear about it), but this 4-year-old article implies that Monero and Lightning are around the same level of privacy.

Bitcoin has larger adoption (network effects for monetization), clear monetary policy, and with layer 2s strong privacy protections. What advantage does XMR give?

Saying this as someone who held XMR for the past two years or so for privacy reasons and decided to exit. I just don’t see the drive today.

Anyone know how to convert from Swedish dates?

I’ve been holding a USD position for the past 40 years or so, and I’ve taken massive losses on it. I started layering out a few years ago. It always hurts to have to realize massive losses on an investment, but happy to be back in real money again.

I read Atlas Shrugged as an ebook this year. Absolutely life changing. DanConia’s speech about money snapped so much of my belief system into focus. I couldn’t stop talking to nostr:npub1ytxxers306jvc33akk4zpunnazm058sx8sarw3008wpnw2vlzpdsw2qztz about it.

I’m looking forward to a reread.

That worked perfectly!

Strangely enough, I didn’t see this post. I get coinos set up, told nostr:npub1ytxxers306jvc33akk4zpunnazm058sx8sarw3008wpnw2vlzpdsw2qztz, and she told me you’d mentioned it

Wow, super easy to build and run. Very excited to see more. And given that it's in Rust, pretty lower barrier to entry to contribute to :)

When I send zaps on posts, I can see in my wallet (Blink) that the money's gone out, but it doesn't appear within any Nostr app. I've tried sending zaps in noStrudel, Snort, Iris, and Primal, same behavior. I have Blink tied into my Alby wallet extension.

Anyone experience something like this, or have any recommendations of things to look into? As a bonus, if you give me a recommendation, I'll have to test out sending a zap to _someone_ ;)

Phew. I was worried I'd broken something on my side again. Good luck on getting it fixed!

Cool, I've added it to my relay list, thank you! I tried zapping you, I wasn't able to initiate any Lightning transfer to your address. I tried a different wallet and I got a 500 error page of some kind. I'm not familiar enough with Lightning to debug further, sorry, though I got errors on two different wallets (Blink and Zeus).
