Apple brag: Shot with iPhone 15 Pro…with a pro crew & full gear
”There are definitely large tech companies that would rather not have to try to compete with open source, so they're creating fear of AI leading to human extinction"

There’s a time to build, and there’s a time to wind down.
But the latter seldom happens voluntarily unless it's preplanned.

If you have been wondering about the growth rate of Nostr
or
where the devs have been focusing on
or

“I finished her book feeling that, yes, western leaders were often blind to Putin…But in appeasing Russia from 2008 to 2022, westerners were also pursuing their interests. I suspect they’ll do it again.”

It’s a good one. Been using it for a while. The free service has a 24h expiration limit now that can be a bit short in some cases.
This might help the finding, and to go over 15: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GjfN_eMiEywqXfKFHZMw4rLnoQLBXYEyl2NCEtsCXWw/edit
It hangs at times for a few sec. Would help that it shows that something is going on since now it’s unsure whether it’s a UI issue or a hang.
Usually, I find the hangs by trying to navigate in the menus but nothing happens. Not always sure whether it’s the iPad layout that’s not optimised or the app is busy.
The Q3 2023 Twitter Migration report is out: https://www.deweysquare.com/digital/twitter-migration-report/
It shows Nostr is holding steady after Threads tsunami. We’ve got users, interest, and development but we’re stuck in a bitcoin / crypto echo chamber. The problem isn’t the tech directly so much as culture. How can we cultivate millions of communities with their own values and norms. Sure they can use lightning for payments, but mostly people won’t be here because they believe in nostr or bitcoin. In fact for both to succeed we need folks who don’t care about the underlying tech at all.
Maybe we all need start posting all types of content that may be going to other platforms now and not filtered out stuff that suits the current crypto narrative.
A bigger point: regular users don’t care about the tech. Nostr has been mainly for builders in the beginning but nostr marketing should be more Mac vs. PC ads (benefits vs. features).
If you just assume that stuff works (as it should and it already does mainly) then it’s about whom to connect with and what to share.

Could be a game within the browser using the translation feature and your regular feed notes.
Learn by browsing
Pick your language and it hides some of the words and you try to enter them with the correct form.
You could also try to translate the whole note, and compare the results.
My NostrNet.work app collection, it's very efficient way to utilize Nostr at its full potential.
Tip: Turn it into a "PWA" app; it also supports a login extension on Android, PC, MAC, and Linux.
A special update for "Power users" is coming very soon.

Well I built search bots at https://sb.nostr.band, which quote other notes. That's not the same thing that you're suggesting, but it's similar - a way to discover content that doesn't get into your feed naturally. I saw minimal traction, almost no followers on bots, and quite some complaints and mutes. But those might have been coming from the fact that they mention other posts/users.
I also have a list of some bot accounts here if you'd like to do any research https://nostrudel.ninja/#/lists/naddr1qqzyymm5wvq3vamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwdehhxarj9e3xzmnyqgsrx4k7vxeev3unrn5ty9qt9w4cxlsgzrqw752mh6fduqjgqs9chhgrqsqqqafsp37r5k
There are also tools for twitter-to-nostr already, and quite some twitter-mirroring bot accounts: https://nostr.band/?q=rss+twitter&type=profiles
I think that experiment (at least a simple/stupid) version of it has been run and saw no traction. Maybe it should just get more sophisticated?
Is there any particular reason why the feeds have stopped months ago?
I just followed your post’s link and those are from the first page.
If X’s burning platform is a bit too much how are the alternatives doing:
Bluesky:

Nostr:
There was/is quite many of those done via the RSS-bridges already but I never found them to work consistently.
Either it was the nostr client changing the relay settings (removing the bridge relay) or something else happened (the bridge stopped updating).
I collected some 50-100 on my following list in the spring but don’t have them anymore.
A micro-bot / service where you could look for your favourite user with their handle (twitter/mastodon/bsky), website address or RSS-feed address might help in discovery and feed population, and add them if they don’t have a feed yet.
This is the other way to do it on the client side:

Soon you have to be anti-everything just not to be anti-anything
Thanks to some analysis from our intern nostr:npub17plqkxhsv66g8quxxc9p5t9mxazzn20m426exqnl8lxnh5a4cdns7jezx0 , according to opt-in AppStore analytics one of the biggest issues with Damus is user retention. 99% of people stop using damus after 6 months.
In the next version we will be looking at ways to get mores users to that “ah ha” moment that gets them to stick around like all of us addicts.
Ideas welcome! Notifications is obviously a big one, but maybe we could make it easier to get people their first sats.
The UX is what keeps me away from Damus. It’s the fastest to retrieve new notes and notifications. It’s also solid to show notes that maybe missing from elsewhere. The rest I find lacking.
Some of the things I have noticed (by heart so sorry for errors/things already fixed):
The notes are not presented in a consistent manner. For example, quoted notes were not shown (only the noteid) and the order is not how it’s structured in the OG note source (when links & images).
Search is very limited.
Basic features are missing that you can find in the other browsers. I would encourage use Nostur as a reference.
The iPad UI is horrible. The notes are stretched across the whole width. Scrolling is not smooth.
There’s so much more but just to give some pointers. Happy to elaborate more and keep up the good work.
PS. I did the Finnish translation of Damus some months back but haven’t seen it implemented.
Do you have a Wordpress website?
You can use it as your private Nostr media host with the plugin 🤙
