A long shot but maybe orkut.com could be an option?
“Our online tools should serve us, not divide us. They should protect our data, not sell it. They should give us hope, not fear and anxiety. The best social network is the one that enriches your life but that doesn’t manipulate it. I want you to be able to be your true self, online and off. I want you to be able to make connections that stick. I want to help you do that with all my heart.”
Can Damus and Nostur act as private storage for the user’s notes, replies and reboosts?
Nostur shows 270 days back and Damus scrolled to 1y (no more specific details).
Are notes deleted in the local storage or is it reasonable to expect that the accumulation of notes over time represents the full archive?

Why not support RSS-feed and allow zapping to the address in the feed? For example, the author item is there (an email-address). Maybe there’s a place to put the zap address directly or just use the email-field and associate it with the author’s zap address.

I was thinking the other day about why everybody does not have a place to post their content and then the distro will be for various places with different UX and UI.
It’s so backwards that we go to other people’s places to post our content and then we do it over and over again, and at the end of the day may lose everything. Most of the time other people monetise our content and we are not even part of the deal.
Separating content from the context (representation) is oversimplification and part of the reason (e.g. Xitter posts work differently than IG or TikTok).
Yet, the personal depository of data is the most decentralised way. The communities are the verticals that bring the context. Allowing access to various distros flips the power dynamics if you can withdraw and opt out.
Text should be no different from (licensing) music, videos or other content.
Combination of persistency of the nip-05 (how long without change), your WOT follows indicator (more likely to be the real deal if many of your follows also follow for a long time) + some activity metrics (replies, likes, boosts ratios etc. for not spam —> depth/quality of content)?
Similar to if somebody has been on Xitter or IG for over a decade with regular posting and following —> gives higher trust that it’s the real account.
Tried Tokcast?
Bluesky getting some recent new users (from Brazil?)
That’s a properly detailed coffee menu 🤙
I did not know about the Russian bonds in 2021 etc
Possible to give limited approvals (time and/or source based) in the app when first getting them?
I experienced non-updating when first used the latest version but it went away after a second restart. Might have been some in-app db migration or something.
The feed is smooth now 🤙

Indeed. Robots.txt has worked for many years, and it was just a moral choice, not a technical barrier.
Transparency is a good way to air out bad behaviour allowing others to see it and stop cooperating with a bad actor.
There are ways to have strong “signals” and guardrails for the expected behaviour in the NIPs.
Choice is a strong force. If you can choose the behaving relays, services etc. it goes a long way.
That was the way the Internet worked the first decades.
Seldom it's worth the effort to try to chase after your rights if somebody misuses your copyright.
This is the article I meant to share (and it's not just OpenAI):
The unwritten rules of respecting robots.txt and not scooping up everything have already crumpled due to AI scraping.

Seems to be the trend that if you can access it it will be used. Encrypt and deny access might become the new reality, unfortunately.
