The switching is partly because none of them work adequelty yet, so it’s out of necessity.

More time-consuming and unpredictable since they don’t function and show the same results always.

This is just brilliant!

Works out of the box effortlessly.

I would love to see in the future the option to show also retweets (and replies) on the page. Now, the options are only notes/posts (without those).

The site works nicely on iFrame (see the pic)

A few "bugs/features":

- as a logged-in user I could not find how to enter the admin dashboard to my page (it's https://npub.pro/admin)

- Title layout adjustment would help with the banner image (now it was blocking the image —> needed to make it empty)

- Nostr.login icon does not change color when the underlying theme is either in dark/light mode (not a biggie but it sticks out)

- if the Settings save was refused/denied by the extension there's no way to retry without adjusting the settings (workaround: change anything —> save —> deny —> revert back —> save —> accept)

It seems that only a few are genuinely interested in building based on an open-protocol, and the rest want to gain control and maybe dress on the openness if it fits the marketing strategy.

It may require exceptional level of clarity and vision to use open-protocol to capture enough value to sustain the business effort of building it. The VC money is also not attracted to less than brilliant cases and it’s easier to pitch/build another Twitter/X etc. clone with the hockey stick growth projections.

You have to follow the right people and the experience changes.

They launched a week ago so there’s a lot of new users getting used to the app.

The following graph is based on web of trust and the feed is a reversed chronological order.

Nostur has a Mac version, and many iPad versions work with the M-series

The 3rd party services were part of the early Twitter success when the API was open and it was an open field for innovation and experimentation providing utiilty and value for end users.

Nostr has the openness but the hurdle to start development is pretty high at the moment. There are plenty of nips and existing repos but the documentation and getting started easiness is not there. For existing devs who been around the knowledge is implicit. Thats not the case for newcomers, and it’s rarely made explicit.

The dev friendliness is not in the level where the libraries and tools are supporting newbies to experiment and test quickly.

For example, comparing how quickly you can do stuff to ATProto is one reference point: https://skyware.js.org/guides/bot/introduction/getting-started/

Some of the (obvious) issues are:

- easy authentication on multitude of devices (especially on Mobile; again here ATProto has a pretty nice app password solution)

- media storage

- the ecosystem costs issue (who pays for relays, storage etc)

There are a lot of individiual projects but when you look across categories and across the user value chain (starting from the client, moderation tools, content sources (algos), relays, storage etc.) the integration is not smooth.

Threads released their API for devs to check it out before the API release at the end of June.

Am I missing something since there’s no direct upload option for media files in their API?

”The U.K.’s smaller and less versatile nuclear force is, by contrast, fully integrated into the NATO command. Lacking an air component, it relies on American-supplied Trident missiles for its four submarines and possesses a total of under 260 warheads.”
