Who in their right mind would start saving in #bitcoin today, if they knew how the forces within Bitcoin apply nowadays ? Does anyone still have enough confidence, trying to orange pill their entourage ? I am up to my neck in bitcoin. My life savings are in there. I am not going anywhere. I’ll drown, and sink with the ship (before ever having the luxury to invoke a boating accident 😉).
But Gosh, is it bad what’s in sight….
#op_return

Knots nodes are 24% now. Grows everyday. A lot of people care. Won’t debate the efficiency. But we care. Not sure want you mean by « get past this », but if it’s « get past morale stances », then what remains is still people taking action against more evil.
I regret you dismiss my question. Not wanting more filth is a good enough morale superiority, YES. If you disagree with that, then good luck.

Won’t stop relaying blocks no. You are right in that regard, but you know like me that the most harmful stuff (images) already there is split across multiple outputs. You’d have to want to be exposed to that stuff and reconstruct it.
I understand there may also be URLs in plain text, but it’s the same, you’d have to be already actively informed of where to look (which block), and know where that link leads to. Also, if you allow me to say where my conscience is, then yes I am ok so far. If you allow me in return, goatmeal, I also have a question : Will you completely stop using the www ?
Core devs can ONLY meddle with their implementation of the protocol. Afterwards, CONSENSUS emerges. It CONSTANTLY emerges, endlessly. Currently, it’s debated, yes, but there is only so much that "a group of individuals" can do. What #bitcoin will become is up to the network as a whole, ALL individuals participate.
Running #knots ! (was running a filtering 27.1 Core instance until today, but from now on proudly signaling one more Knots-nodes to the network).
Still won’t stop a big miner to insert a large scale, serialized, illegal turd into a block, and my knots node to validate it, but at least, I’ll have my #mempool and my conscience clean.
#bitcoin

#slipstream was bad enough. Big, paid-for by their customers, files could be shoved into a block, regardless of your relay policy, BUT they never touched your #mempool , and they were "curated" by #mara .
But #op_return up to 100KB will be something else : 🧨
Big, serialized, ILLEGAL, files, will linger (for free) in all the mempool of all non-filtering nodes in the world. (NEVER MIND if they never get into a block…).
#bitcoin will become a free, uncensored (so much for "censorship resistance") file transfer network. Congrats #core !

If you are running #knots, you are the resistance. #bitcoin
Oh don’t worry ! Core devs are reasonable people, they wouldn’t hurt #bitcoin on purpose for immediate miner gains ! plus remember, the nodes are the bosses, they rules, they decide what version of the software they run. So we’re safe !
Bitcoin is CULTURE vs MARKET.
100.000 bytes of trash.

+ #bitaxe on my own instance of #solockpool. 😃
How cool is my node ? #bitcoin #noderunner

Thanks for your interest. Anyway, I can think for myself and I do not only rely on nostr:npub1s33sw6y2p8kpz2t8avz5feu2n6yvfr6swykrnm2frletd7spnt5qew252p to form my opinion. I’ve been stacking sats and maintaining my own node on a Linux machine (not a plug-and-play thing likeStart9 or Umbrel..) for the almost 4 years now.
learned a lot, read a lot, thought a lot.
nostr:npub15tzcpmvkdlcn62264d20ype7ye67dch89k8qwyg9p6hjg0dk28qs353ywv is no rocket science, its ethical and political aspects are accessible to any moderately literate person. Mr Back sure is a part of Bitcoin’s history, but people change, and their motives, also. You mention Ver, that’s a good example. He was handing out bitcoin in the streets of Tokyo, and was Jesus, look at what he’s up to now. People change.
Each individual node have agency over what’s in their mempool. I’m not afraid of divisive FUD, it just means debate. I chose my side in this OP_RETURN war, the side of what I think is sanity and benevolence.

nostr:npub1qg8j6gdwpxlntlxlkew7eu283wzx7hmj32esch42hntdpqdgrslqv024kw I am a small insignificant shit, but you’re loosing my business here.
I regret buying my two Jades from you, Sir.
So which way is the swarm heading ?

I am my own counterparty risk. #bitcoin
Hi nostr:npub1s33sw6y2p8kpz2t8avz5feu2n6yvfr6swykrnm2frletd7spnt5qew252p ! Are you speaking soon about block templates centralization ?
Can’t get enough Bob Burnett and Bitcoin Mechanic these days…
But it’s making me anxious of BTC future..
Why are their topics not debated more broadly… ?
H, just a little bitcoiner here…
