Wallet of Satoshi is significantly cheaper than Muun.
WoS is probably the best one to onboard noobs with to LN with a few sats. Then graduate to Phoenix or Blixt when they’re ready and need a non-custodial wallet.
Muun is basically custodial for receiving LN until the on-chain transaction confirms back into your wallet from the submarine swap.
57 sats to send the 50k back to Blixt Wallet from Phoenix.
Minimum fee to send the 50k back to Blixt Wallet is 680 sats! 🤯
Blixt Wallet to Muun. 96 sats to send 50k. More than twice as expensive to send to Muun. https://ibb.co/GMN9tgh
I only did 50k for now. Blixt Wallet to Phoenix. 38 sats to send 50k. https://ibb.co/J5Q383S
I’ll do it if you agree to reimburse me the fees.
That’s true, but the fact their willing to cover a transaction to Wallet of Satoshi but they need to charge a fee to send to Muun is telling. Sending funds to a Muun wallet costs them significantly more money.
It’s not FUD. It’s facts from my experience of using Muun and about a dozen other LN wallets over the past 2 years as well as running an LN routing node. I even wrote the stacker.news article, that was from my own experience.
Muun is about the worst one out there.
That’s expensive af for an LN payment.
I’d rather not donate more sats to Muun. Even Robosats doesn’t support sending to Muun because it’s too damn expensive: https://learn.robosats.com/docs/wallets/#muun-mobile
Except Muun doesn’t actually work well if you actually make regular LN payments.
Sending to Muun from any other wallet will be expensive af since they siphon fees through their magnetron node.
Blixt Wallet is my favorite. Non-custodial and you can manage your own channels.
Phoenix is decent for LN noobs but a little expensive to get started.
Wallet of Satoshi for total noobs but keep in mind that it’s custodial so don’t keep any significant amount of funds in there for long.
Again. Muun wallet isn’t an LN wallet. Muun also siphons fees from anyone sending funds to it since it needs to relay though their magnetron node which charges insane fees for incoming transactions.

When you send on-chain you get to set your own fee rate, but you can’t manage your UTXOs, and when you try to send all those dust UTXOs it will get expensive, even at 1 sat/vB.
Try sending something over 300k sats on Muun. It will very likely get expensive quickly.
No it’s not. It’s an on-chain wallet that just interacts with LN via submarine swaps. You’re still making an on-chain transaction for every LN payment you send or receive and that will get expensive and it’s not sustainable.
Fair enough that makes sense. Best to ensure its well tested before implementing it to ensure no funds are lost.
