This AI stuff is an absolute mess. Such an assault on small creators by multibillion dollar companies.

I try and be open minded and kind but this is just wrong.

I addressed this one already but I want to reiterate a point many people in these debates forget:

LEGAL IS NOT THE SAME AS ETHICAL.

Just because you legally CAN do something doesn't make it right.

There's a single artist in question and they've explained what they did

nostr:npub1ztkkp35jykmfywgxm27g46gxvzycygpvqqr6q3jn0nrnh2x0sq2qtglanu gizmodo, which is owned by a company that has extensively used generative AI calling what happened generative AI is such a laugh.

The artist created original art and then did a pass to tweak a few items. A writer using Grammerly does the same thing. We don't call that generative AI

nostr:npub1y0nhalplmyhfsu9y8q27slcz0y6p9vjwgyfctvn6mgwkx058h0aq5pyj5w my theory is they expected to make 25 from theatrical, so the impairment.

But as a marketing device it succeeded

nostr:npub1y0nhalplmyhfsu9y8q27slcz0y6p9vjwgyfctvn6mgwkx058h0aq5pyj5w weirdness with the D&D movie. It's still in the top 10 most streamed movies in the US (still not streaming in many nations) and is a strong top 10 worldwide on VoD with Amazon, Google and iTunes.

BUT Hasbro took a 25 mill impairment.

BUT BUT D&D, the franchise, was up 74% seventy-four! in Q2. This would include the game, DnD Beyond, the movie, and all of that sweet, sweet licensing.

Level Up A5e has massively boosted the amount of content available for upgraded D&D.

If you design for D&D then you'll find lots of mechanical support for previous vexing questions. It's so easy, even a schmo like me can do stuff. All about having the right tools. 😀

I misread an out of office automated reply as

"I'm out of my depth in August" and I really felt for the fake person I invented.

Also, I need this vacation

And I've interviewed Willow when I was the creator.

It's inception!

nostr:npub1u4kdjphm3zjuanddjnuf0x2dw4gxleg4n6j3c8equp4w6z8mmxyq0nvxe4 I hear what your saying. Folks out here like Dish. It sucks to have what was a ubiquitous subject of conversation gone.

Bitter Smith.

nostr:npub1s23fya7xm7dejx22hhfl3345wyea469m9vajhv5yx9f0c8vpuk3qj7rvu8 That's Dish's fault. They removed every regional sports network in the country

Anyone have advice for running undercover or spy adjacent stories using #DnD

I know there are other systems, but this is a short campaign in a world developed for 5e and the group plays 5e.
