The US ended the slave trade, that was a major source of its success & prosperity. But creating an organization with the power to tax is legitimization of theft. It doesn't matter how you dress it up, "pay me or have your stuff violently taken & be put in a cage" is just plain theft. And the expansion of that theft has brought slavery back in a different form & destroyed the country. There are only 2 ways to deal with people, you can trade & otherwise interact in a voluntary manner (offering value for value), or you can deal in threats & force. A system that only works with the right people in charge & that has no way to prevent the wrong people from gaining power is a BAD system.

If Wholefoods got thousands of dollars from you every month whether they stocked anything you wanted or not, how much incentive would they have to carry anything you wanted? Would voting for a different guy every 4 years be a decent way to get more of what you wanted in the store? Now add the fear & the religious devotion to the store, does it get better at serving people or worse?

You can often feel the difference when dealing with any "service" that is funded by force or govt protected. The DMV, TSA, Post Office, your local cable or power company, the VA or Social Security office, hospitals, banks... How do you feel when a cop is behind you in traffic? Do you feel protected or afraid? With all these "services" generally the lines are longer, the interaction is more about telling you want to do than finding out what you want, they often literally give you busy work, and the service is usually just bad. "We can't help you without multiple forms of ID." "Fill out these forms for the 100th time." "We need to fingerprint you before we can cash that check." "You have to submit to body scans & searches & hand over that tiny knife on your keychain if you want to fly."

And there are still more structural problems... Generally speaking I have little reason to care what my neighbor drives, but what happens if everyone has to vote on what people are allowed to drive? If I want to drive a Honda & my neighbor prefers GM vehicles, now his preferences are a threat to me. Deciding anything politically is extremely divisive. The more important the issue (education, security, healthcare, freedom of trade, freedom of movement, etc) the more destructive to peaceful relations & overall function that voting & central management becomes. The only way to solve this is to let people trade & decide things for themselves. And if you don't want anything centrally managed or funded by theft, then why do you need a govt?

At Tiroah (pronounced tī-rō-uh), we strive for reinvention and innovation. It is a place where we focus on higher learning. We embrace academic freedom and freedom of speech for instructors and students. Our mission is to re-ignite independent thinking, freedom of thought, open discussion, civil discourse, and the desire for learning.

Not only do we want students to learn traditional concepts but we also want them to be able to achieve higher-order thinking skills, critical thinking skills, analytical thinking skills, logical thinking skills, and effective problem solving.

Students at Tiroah will be able to advance their knowledge base via traditional courses (e.g. Calculus, Biology, Ethics) and non-traditional courses (e.g. Geopolitics, Investing, Emotional Intelligence, Cryptography.)

All courses are student-centered in which students create their own Individualized learning plans and can choose an instructor from any place in the world. Courses will be live or self-directed.

At Tiroah, students are in the “drivers seat” and have the power, autonomy, and control over their learning. The design of the courses will allow students to accelerate quickly through a program or learn at their leisure. There are no penalties if a student chooses to stop a course. Moreover, students can change instructors as desired. No longer are the days of being “stuck” with an instructor for an entire semester.

Courses at Tiroah will be designed to be topics-based. Thus, allowing students to choose to learn all topics of a particular subject or a few selected topics. We will provide students with suggested/recommended learning plans. However, it will ultimately be the students’ choice!

Since Tiroah has no walls and no borders, students are given the opportunity to create their own learning hubs or educational pods with their peers online or in-person.

Unlike traditional colleges and universities, Tiroah won’t offer degrees nor certificates. We believe in students obtaining a skill set that is applicable to many professions.

We also will not be funded by the government nor investors seeking a profit. So you may be asking…1) How will instructors get paid? Students will pay instructors directly…in Bitcoin! Students can pay for each topic or the entire course. But not all courses will be paid content. There will be tons of free content available for students to access via desktop and mobile device. In turn, the overall cost of learning at Tiroah will be less than traditional colleges and universities.

Moreover, Tiroah will never charge students nor instructors fees such as registration fees or set-up fees. In fact there will be no registration, sign-up, email address, phone number, username nor password required to access content. We plan to use the #nostr protocol which would require students to only enter their npub and nsec.

Tiroah will not engage in revenue sharing. Payments are made directly from student to instructor.

About the Founder: The founder of Tiroah is a multiple award winning former faculty member who taught at the collegiate level for over 15 years. The founder is an expert in program and curriculum development as well as course creation and design. The founder has participated in high level projects for local and statewide initiatives. Moreover, the founder has created an online course used by students in over 100 countries.

The founder has first-hand knowledge of the pros and cons of higher education and understands the issues related to higher education. Issues that many students and instructors can relate to. I don’t know why anyone would support a Republic, that is rule by the elite. But I have to disagree about democracy because I think they like to slap the word onto monstrous systems. Like decentralization onto a shitcoin.

Democracy as individual participation in power is powerful and why they cheapen the name with straw man tactics that we fall for. Anarchism and democracy are much closer than they want us to realize.

The American experiment was a failure. The goal of creating the smallest & most restrained govt in the world produced the largest & most corrupt govt to ever exist.

Minarchy doesn't work. Doing the same thing & expecting a different result is retarded.

The mistake made in the creation of the US was the legitimization of theft. If taxation had not been allowed then the govt might have remained a polycentric service organization. But when some people can legally steal from everyone, they have zero incentive to give a shit what anyone wants.

Biggest complaints:

- Bitcoin echo chamber / not enough variety of content

- Difficult to use (my guess is these people have only tried it once 8 months ago lol..)

- Feeds not busy enough

- Toxic to web 3

My thoughts:

I bet we can solve a lot of these complaints just by asking people to select some topics to follow in onboarding and doing away with global entirely, or make it an optional thing. It seems global is responsible for turning people off because they see a bunch of spam / too much bitcoin content and or some other crap.

Topics solves some of this - they will see more focused content.

Better navigation UX can help - like browsing hashtags (see primal).

The network effects thing IS a challenge. Have to have users to create content and have to have content to attract users. Lists could help here. Even something as suggesting a list of RSS feeds that post on Tech news for example would be helpful. We already have RSS feeds for all sorts of stuff but they are difficult to surface.

Engaging with non-bitcoin content can help too (if you find it interesting, probably don’t want to force it).

Other than that I am not sure how to get more non-bitcoin users here other than creating a “safe space” for them where they don’t see that type of content at all.
