For folks who don’t value privacy/censorship resistance you could take the angle of owning your social graph, not being subject to algorithmic changes, the engaged community and the ability to natively zap⚡️ sats. Fountain is web2 platform that helps bridge the gap a bit, especially if they already have an RSS feed. In the end, as you know, creators have limited bandwidth so if they dont see the value there’s no reason to distract from the bread and butter on YouTube.

Nostr is great now but fast forward 2-3 years with the tools and projects coming down the pipeline, it will be a much easier pitch 👌

The power of art to

change societal norms and shift paradigms is often underrated.

Nearly a century ago, artists like Thomas Moran traveled West to paint the natural wonders of Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite.

These paintings created awareness of the West’s natural beauty and directly led to the establishment of the National Park system. Arguably one of the only good things the Federal government has ever done, and it happened because powerful artwork shifted the “Overton window.”

The challenge with having the foresight to protect America’s natural beauty somewhat mirrors the challenge of having the foresight to adopt bitcoin. There were certainly powerful interests back then that were against the idea of conservation, as there are today with bitcoin.

There are some incredible artists in bitcoin already, but there is so much space more.

I recently commissioned one of my best friends, who is a a glass artist to “make something cool” with a bitcoin logo stamp I had custom made from a small business (that accepts bitcoin) in New Mexico.

My quick thought- while he may have overestimated the population’s vigilance and underestimated the influence of the money printer, in time, he will be proven correct.

Jimmy writes about the the shift from the fiat mindset where bitcoin is an investment to adopting it as a unit of account. What resonated most with me was the point about how this shift leads to a profound increase in peace of mind- which you can’t put a price on.

In my experience, this shift led to three fundamental mindset changes.

1. Your savings are actually not “volatile” if bitcoin is your unit of account. When your stack is growing, your savings are growing, simple as that. Denominating in fiat means assuming risk to buy stocks, bonds or other assets, just to keep up with the 7% annualized inflation.

2. Time preference- On a bitcoin standard the opportunity cost of everything you purchase is more bitcoin. On a fiat standard the opportunity cost of everything you purchase is a melting ice cube losing value every single day. Just look at the rise in sports betting, shitcoin gambling and the fact that nearly half of all stock options have a 0-day expiration. Society has generally become more financially nihilistic, and for good reason. On average, people’s goals and aspirations (buying a house. starting a business etc.) are moving further out of reach as they work harder and harder.

3. Lastly, the feeling of knowing my time and energy isn’t being stolen through debasement of the dollar is hard to describe. The best word I can think of is, freedom.
