GM mate ๐Ÿ˜† letโ€™s do this!

Good morning Rasha โ˜€๏ธ

Youโ€™re not wrong, but I thought of another parallel in the example of Google search.

Hard to imagine the internet without search, but for a long time it was a high wire act to go looking for hardware supplies.

Itโ€™s really down to algorithms no?

High time preference will exist until we push it back at a civilizational level, but, in the meantime, we can control the algorithms we subscribe to.

Yeh, that would be a disappointment if thatโ€™s where we ended up.

Iโ€™ve noticed that many technologies are taken up by shady industries first though. Remember Bitcoin and Silk Road for example.

Well Iโ€™ll preface by saying Iโ€™m not certain what youโ€™re aiming for on Nostr, but also, Iโ€™m not sure what Nostr even is yet.

We think itโ€™s decentralized social, but I have all kinds of ideas on how it could be used in ways that pay the people hosting infrastructure, that isnโ€™t social.

To roll with the metaphor though, maybe your payout is an unruggable brand, with an unruggable audience? Perhaps thatโ€™s a really valuable thing.

If thereโ€™s value in that, then building momentum early could pay off, but Iโ€™d say we need critical mass.

Thinking about Russel Brand, and the effort heโ€™s gone to in creating a funnel from YouTube into Rumble, seems to me, platforms are quite sticky, hard to peel the audience away once captured.

The thing I feel that a lot of this decentralized world is missing at the moment are some useful businesses. And it makes sense, because it's all so nascent.

Useful businesses will bring paying customers beyond the enthusiasts, and those businesses will happily pay for infrastructure, through advertising or monthly services.

But, like trying to gain global traction with a Zimbabwe start up, it's difficult to take off due to volatility, legality, interference from competing jurisdictions, low trust from the general public, etc.

I believe that will get easier in time. Sometimes I think about Estonia.
