In the first book of Plato's Republic, Socrates asks Cephalus what the best part of being rich is. Cephalus responds:

"Not cheating someone even unintentionally, not lying to him, not owing a sacrifice to some god or money to a person... the possession of wealth makes no small contribution to this." (331b, Reeve translation).

For the current generation of billionaires, the best part of being rich is that it allows you to lie, cheat and steal with impunity.

I am thinking about selling smoked meats and smoked beef jerky on nostr exclusively right from nostr fundraising headquarters in Arkansas where we meet for free drinks, free food, support the community and teach others about nostr, bitcoin, ecash, and lightning. We have hiking, boating, paddle boarding, biking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, all across the street🙂

I spent a few days on each taking in the vibe.

X is nothing but vitriol and bots. Engagement is just how many people react to your notes. There actually isn't any conversation, just people talking at each other.

Bluesky is performance theatre. The people seem nice and polite but the notes are just virtue signalling to each other. No one is talking about their real life or anything beyond the superficial.

Nostr is a odd collection of Bitcoiners, techies, and misfits who hang out on the edges. There is actual conversation and exchanges of ideas. People talk about their day and aspirations.
