Yeah, it’s been frustrating at times for myself because my body hasn’t been able to keep up with the memories I have. I swear kids, I used to be pretty average 😂. Not quite as flexible as I used to be.

But, being out there with kids, teaching them all the different things they need to know to catch a wave and relearning what I can do in middle age, has presented new challenges and a renewed passion.

After not surfing for 15-20 years, and now getting back into it and teaching my kids, I’ve come to understand that parenthood is a lot like surfing.

95% percent of the time your paddling, chasing, go over the top, slamming into reefs, having people drop in on you, and struggling, but when you succeed, nothing beats the ride you get to take. That 5% is worth the 95% of struggles.

I got my oldest out the back this morning and she paddled into her first unbroken wave and was able to engage a rail and cut across the face by the end our session.

Very happy and grateful to be paying my head down in my small apartment room.

I feel very fortunate as many in LA (Cali) and across the world are homeless due to fires, wars, and finances.

It saddens me what world I live in but I try to remain stoic about it, yet with an open heart.

Will be looking at life more at a fine tuned level. More simplicity, more love, more gratitude, more stoicism. But to have more you often have to become less.
