Nothing much too worry about...they still cannot get the narrative right.

Seems they are still working on the narrative...

Unless there is proof, we should not assume Signal was broken into.

My assumption, or speculation, is this was more of a social engineering attack, rather than a technical attack on the software. The words he is using, and the way the video is cut do not reveal anything.

Snippets like this are clickbait, and should not be taken seriously. If the long form video is available, it should be posted rather than this clip. People should bring this to the attention of Signal.

Expecting privacy from Google is like asking the local mafia how bad crime in your neighborhood is.

You’ve got nothing to hide...right?

Wrong.

We’ve all got something to hide…

...or better yet…

...something important to protect.

It’s why we have curtains in our bedrooms, locks on our doors and passwords on our accounts.

It’s not your fault there’s so many risks today, people overlook this. We feel we can’t do anything because “that’s the world we live in.”

A short snippet from a blog post on my site. The social aspects of privacy are currently awkward...as if someone was committing a crime. My goal is to remind people that privacy is a natural human right, we are born with, not something granted by government or society.

As someone trained in non-lethal combat, pepper spray attacks the eyes and skin in addition to the nose and mouth. The difference is a liquid spray, such as an over-the-counter self defense item, versus a gaseous spray, similar to a fire extinguisher...or what the military fills the gas chamber with during training.

An N95 mask is not a defense against a motivated assailant, and any successful escape from this misfortune is due to a combination of luck and street smarts, rather than a semblance of protection.

The risks/benefits of constantly wearing masks are documented by independent medical professionals, but correlating a mask to a self defense item against a random attack is not only foolish, it is dangerous.

The idea that socialism is a transitional stage leading to communism is a central concept in Marxist theory. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, the founders of Marxism, introduced this concept in their writings. They believed that socialism, characterized by the collective ownership of the means of production and the abolition of class distinctions, would ultimately pave the way for a classless society, which they referred to as communism.

Marx and Engels articulated their views in various works, including "The Communist Manifesto" (1848) and "Critique of the Gotha Program" (1875). According to their theory, socialism would be a necessary step toward achieving the ultimate goal of communism, where there would be no private property, no class divisions, and a society organized on the principle of "from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs."

"Our purpose is to ensure that everyone has enough to eat, that there is no exploitation of man by man, that there is a fair distribution of wealth. We are not here to create emperors, kings, or gods, but to create a better life for the people."

-Mao Zedong

"People say that poverty is bad, but in fact poverty is good. The poorer people are, the more revolutionary they are. It is dreadful to imagine a time when everyone will be rich... From a surplus of calories people will have two heads and four legs."

-Mao Zedong

"When there is not enough to eat, people starve to death. It is better to let half of the people die so that the other half can eat their fill."

-Mao Zedong

The Great Leap Forward, initiated by Mao Zedong in 1958, was a campaign aimed at transforming China into a Communist utopia. However, it resulted in a humanitarian disaster of unprecedented proportions.

The policies of forced collectivization and unrealistic agricultural targets led to widespread food shortages and famine. Millions of Chinese citizens, particularly in rural areas, perished due to starvation, malnutrition, and related diseases.

The exact death toll remains a subject of debate among historians, but conservative estimates suggest that at least 15-20 million people died during this period. Some higher estimates place the number of fatalities closer to 45 million.

The Great Leap Forward's devastating consequences marked one of the darkest chapters in human history, illustrating the catastrophic impact of misguided policies on the lives of countless individuals. It also serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of evidence-based decision-making and the devastating consequences of ideological fervor at the expense of human welfare.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

One of history's most iconic instances of people rising against their government occurred during the French Revolution in the late 18th century. The French populace stormed the Bastille on July 14, 1789, symbolizing their resistance to the monarchy's tyranny. This revolt led to a tumultuous period of radical political and social change, ultimately resulting in the downfall of the Bourbon monarchy and the rise of the French Republic, shaping the course of modern history.

During the French Revolution, a dark and extreme phase emerged as radicals known as the Jacobins executed numerous government officials, including King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette, via beheading. These gruesome acts, carried out with the guillotine, symbolized the radicalization of the revolution. The Reign of Terror (1793-1794) saw the rise of the Committee of Public Safety, led by Maximilien Robespierre, which aimed to eliminate perceived enemies of the revolution. This brutal period ended with Robespierre's own execution in 1794, marking a turbulent chapter in French history.

Apple encouraged us to "Think Different," celebrating innovation and individuality.

The products, designed to captivate and connect, have evolved into tools of surveillance and data extraction.

Alternatives, such as Linux, GrapheneOS, or building a PC, are extremely accessible. As this community exits the mainstream social media, we can all benefit from exiting the Apple and Google ecosystems.

The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: Abolish all private property.

Karl Marx

Our bodies, minds, and labor are the most intrinsic aspects of our existence, constituting our private property in the truest sense. They are the foundations of our individuality, autonomy, and self-determination. However, in today's world, these essential facets of our lives are increasingly subject to infringement.

Our bodies are often commodified, scrutinized, and controlled by external forces, from invasive medical procedures to data collection by technology companies. Our minds are bombarded with information, manipulated by algorithms, and sometimes even exploited for profit, eroding our mental privacy. Furthermore, labor, our source of sustenance, is subject to exploitation, unfair wages, and precarious working conditions.

Preserving the sanctity of our bodies, minds, and labor as private property is crucial for safeguarding personal freedom, dignity, and human rights in an era of increasing intrusion and surveillance.

Open source software, with its transparency and collaborative spirit, has undeniably transformed the tech industry. It empowers innovation, fosters a sense of community, and reduces costs. However, this openness comes with a trade-off. Just as benevolent developers use open source to create valuable tools, malevolent actors can exploit it for harmful purposes.

The very qualities that make open source powerful—freedom and accessibility—also make it accessible to those with malicious intent. They can manipulate code, insert vulnerabilities, or craft malware. Striking a balance between openness and security is crucial. Vigilant oversight, ethical guidelines, and responsible usage are essential to ensure that open source continues to be a force for good, while mitigating the risks posed by those who would exploit it for nefarious ends.
