Lightning will not scale #Bitcoin in self custodial way. That’s because self custodial Lightning is too complicated and complex for regular pleb. We cannot expect from everyone to have and use lightning node - it’s just too much hassle and that is ok.
We are still early, and it is still possible to secure sovereignty by owning Bitcoin UTXO which will surely change in the future.
That’s why I find wallets like Aqua that offer middle ground between self custody and usability very good solution in this part of the adoption process and having small amounts of spendable bitcoin in custodial wallets is OK.
Accumulate sats in custodial wallet like Wallet of Satoshi or Liquid sats in Aqua wallet and when you reach a threshold, just swap sats for UTXO and be self sovereign
It requires an algorithm/AI for labeling and curating content, which adds high level of complexity. On top of that we kinda came to Nostr to escape algorithms and AI.
