Into Bitcoin since July 2011. Into Nostr since February 2023. Influenced by the works of Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard, Ludwig von Mises, Andrew Galambos - and thought-provoking books including: The Sovereign Individual, How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World, The Path of Least Resistance, PT - The Perpetual Traveler. Professional drummer in my earlier life, digital nomad in my later life, and jazz lover most my life. We won't achieve meaningful freedom until four key "separations from the state" are done and dusted: Separation of church and state (mostly done), separation of money and state (in progress), separation of communication networks and state (early encouraging signs), separation of education and state (a long way to go).

The first 100 sats was sent from Iris, which hasn't implemented zaps, so I did a second one from snort - which wouldn't allow customisation, so it's for 500 sats. Let me know if you got both.

Slowly then suddenly. I think bitcoin will trudge on slowly for a while, but once it enters the almost vertical section of the adoption S curve things will happen quickly. I would chop 10 years off your guess and suggest by 2035 or even earlier - depending on geopolitical/economic conditions around the world.

Not fishy at all. Muun uses submarine swaps to move from lightning to main-chain and reverse. It's what make Muun a very popular wallet - great for everyday use. I wouldn't be without it.

It seems to vary. I did a transfer out of Muun to Alby yesterday of 150,000 sats and the fee was 146 sats - or 3.5 cents USD

Same way but in reverse. If you send funds via Lightning to Muun you can then send funds out to a main-chain bitcoin address. Muun uses a unified balance - the total of both main-chain and lightning bitcoin.

The easiest way to convert main-chain bitcoin to lightning sats is the use Muun wallet. With that you simply send bitcoin to it and from then on you can send out both bitcoin main-chain and Lightning payments from the same wallet. This is how I top up my Alby wallet for use with Nostr.

I generally don't use snort but decided to in order to see how zaps worked. I posted something there and lo and behold I got zapped and the amount showed up on the post. Brilliant. Now, I just have to wait for Damus to fully release their zap-capable update and for Iris to catch up - and I'll be a happy chappy.

I like Snort but using it on Brave the menu is fixed at the top, so as I scroll down through the notes the menu disappears off screen - meaning I have to scroll right back to the top if I want to access notifications, messages, my profile or to do a search.

Is everyone else seeing this as I do? Curious.

Nostr is the global "Testflight" app for showing how bitcoin - via Lightning zaps - can revolutionise social media - by focusing entirely on the individual.

Zaps incentivise considered engagement, witty and thoughtful posts, meaningful communication and self-regulated good behaviour.

What's not to like. Just watch as this Nostr thing catches on!

I'm noticing the mention of "Twitter Coins" here in Nostr. Is this a thing? Has there been an announcement? If so where?

They've indicated that it will be compatible. Apart from that, I find no issue using Alby to send zaps.
