I run a small business. I got a physical check from a customer on Friday afternoon. It was above the limit for mobile deposit so I had to drive to an ATM. I deposited it at 2pm on Friday. It’s several hours into the work week now on Monday and the check is “pending”. How is this how still how payments are handled in 2025?

Fiat wealth vs. Bitcoin wealth

Fiat:

- Tax deferred retirement account (401K or IRA) 60% equities, 40% bonds.

- Equity in a home leveraged in a HELOC and invested in equities.

- Portfolio of rental homes.

- Savings account with ~6 months cash

- Good job plus a side hustle

Bitcoin:

- Equity in a home, un-levered

- Fat stack of Bitcoin

- Tax deferred retirement account mostly invested in Bitcoin related products

- Fiat checking account for incidentals (will become unnecessary over time)

So long as the rate of return on Bitcoin stays consistently above every other asset, why own anything else (aside from maybe a home to raise a family in). As the market wakes up to this more value will accrue to Bitcoin and other assets will reprice. Once everything has accrued to Bitcoin other investments will become interesting again but early Bitcoiner’s won’t need to invest unless that is a passion for them. They are more likely to spend the Bitcoin on generous gifts to their community or making the world a more beautiful place. Picture the cathedrals, fountains and city gates of renaissance Europe spread all across the world. Prices fall every year. People earn and save hard money. Entrepreneurs develop space travel and other new technologies we haven’t even dreamt of. Government shrinks to protect life, liberty and property and almost nothing else.

9-5 “every day” with only 2 weeks of PTO/year is a terrible gig. When you went to college, after shitting, did you do your undergraduate in liberal arts?

I sold my rental when I realized it was a second job not an investment. If you have strong cash flow and/or have managed to refi out your initial investment it can be good but the risks and unforeseen costs in real estate aren’t for me.

I have an instinct that the missing piece in physics (between general relativity, special relativity and quantum mechanics) involves consciousness (the observer) and that it is a wave spectrum similar to sound or light that we are not measuring right now. I think that is why higher states are often associated with resonance (sound waves). I suspect that psychedelics chemically alter our receivers and allow us to tune into parts of the system that are normally invisible to us. I liken it to turning on a radio that randomly scanning the channels but without the tools to tune into any particular station. I suspect that research into this inner world may yield insights that also give us greater control over our outer world. Psychedelics are by no means the only way to explore these other states and they are far from reliable/repeatable, but I think they give us a clue as to where we should be looking for answers in fundamental physics.
