In it for the freedom.

Brc20s is a "protocol" lol, a really hack way of emulating erc-20's and making tokens by using jsons inscriptions. Creating them looks like this. He created them with the ticker "ordi", he created 21 million maximum of them, and you can only claim 1000 at a time.

Sooo, basically you make them for free, and only pay a transaction fee. And grab some yourself. Others grab some at the limit you set and hopefully value it, because crypto, now the tokens you own have value like a premine.

Yeah, an old Ruben Somsen idea. Ruben is a gigabrain who also invented statechains (implemented in Mercury Wallet, known as a 'digital open dime', a way to hand off private keys to a utxo off-chain), this implementation of spacechains, though has been created by fiatjaf known mostly for inventing Nostr.

Avg fees as a percentage of total block reward right now is over 16%. Pretty awesome, numbers like this usually only happen when the NGU starts to cook more. I know a lot of people like to say inscriptions don't pay their share (and maybe they don't) but, it has caused this to happen. And because of them, we likely won't really have empty blocks anymore. These things make me more confident than ever when people try to fud us about the long-term viability of Bitcoin's security budget WITHOUT a tail-emission policy. 21 million is non-negotiable.

When I was getting started it was in the middle of a fee spike when onchain was 40-50 bucks. Would have guessed that they'd be $200 by now. Boy, I was wrong, but it's hilarious to see people worried about how onchain is too high when median onchain fee is $5.16.

Tx fees as a percentage of total block reward right now are over 15%. Which is great news, that we won't need something crazy like a tail emission.

In case you missed it, supertestnet 'broke' the inscriptions numbering system (different than ordinals numbering system, and has broke once already) by inscribing a 0-value utxo. This caused an off-by-one situation. it was a non-standard transaction so it was submitted to a miner to include in a block. He also released it to anyone else who wants to try it. The inscription said "you will use soma and you will like it" being a reference not to the brave new world drug but a implementation of a spacechain a kind of one way peg-in Bitcoin sidechain.

The word Nostr appears in text form on the Bitcoin blockchain 11 times.

10 times in op_ returns.

1 in an inscription.

https://preturnio.com/

Preturnio allows you to search the Bitcoin blockchain for text, which occurs 3 places now.

-Coinbase transactions, like the original Genesis Block.

-Op_returns, an unspeakable opcode for arbitrary data. Once 10,000 bytes until 2014, then 40 bytes, then 80 in 2016

-And finally inscriptions, which is growingly not just images, but more often JSON scripts for brc-20s and .sats names.

(A couple of days ago, since fees have been high lately an image of a bored ape took $138 to mint. 1million BRC-20 tokens took 74 cents. Goes to show you how much smaller a few bytes of code is in comparison to an image.)

This is pretty useful since there is no central registry for who got what .sats name, or no block explorer, so if you need to find the pepecoin history, you best bet is just searching the ticker here.

Give it a try!

But I get what you're saying. Bitcoin never changed the whole time. Just public sentiments of it.

I don't trade. I dca. Sometimes I smash buy strategically though (or like to think I do.)

The thing is... it should always be going down. First it's Bitcoins Dominance out of 10 coins, then 100 coins, then 1000, coins, then 10,000 coins, now it's close to 100,000 coins, if not there already. Any shot of it going up says more about the market than about the currency.

And what it's saying (to me) (in my opinion) when the bankruns happened and the NYT article came out at around the same time, but price still went up, I felt the public is starting to understand Bitcoin. I see economic instability ahead, and I see it as fitting the narrative of Bitcoin, aka, a similar narrative to gold. Love that the public is feeling that.

Bitcoin Dominance is back up to 48 and a fraction. It's local low was 39.11 on 9/6/22. Near the top of the peak on the left, the Luna Collapse occurred. We are now in a better situation than the other side of this valley, when Do Kwon held our fates, at least of the price.

There was a while where the combination of Luke dash being secretly a multimillionaire while asking for donations and there being consequences of Taproot that were seen as unexpected where anti-dev sentiments were quite high, it's still a concern, as the non-technical shitposter is now the largest group. As shown here by this... luddite:

Stacker News added a section of Nostr-only articles and posts. Stacker News has had zaps before zaps were even zaps. If you love Bitcoin and/or Nostr, check it out!

Oh. For some reason I just assumed with the Onlyzaps thing that it meant will had it too. Yeah, I'm spoiled now.

I feel like a way around it would be a custodial wallet in client of course. But not every client wants to deal with that.

In Amethyst, do the relays arrange themselves in order of how.... good they are? I have 26 now, I'm wondering if that's too many. Amethyst is starting to crash on me and I'm wondering if that's why.

I just went to Google it. But I put in the relay, which is also a URL, so it went there instead of searching. It's the "expensive relay." This was (afaik) the first pay-for relay, to demo Lightning paying for relays. Perhaps the one below is the one they let you in if you pay.

Yes, my older sister loved it, and I got into them too. They were the first anime I saw, and the first mangas I read. (This is someone's fan art but) The show had such magical artwork and backgrounds.

So, check this out. On nostrDotinfo these two relays are ABSOLUTELY dominating these are in the 20's-30Thousands. one other is at 2k, all others are in the 200's or less. I tried the top one of the two, it went right to the top of my relays in Amethyst, and it looks like info has gotten uploaded and downloaded in its row, so I guess it's not a paid one.
