I'm doing the Bank of Canada survey on CBDCs & it's disturbing, I'm over 60% done, but here's a few highlights šš¼
šØ If you're Canadian, do the survey! https://twitter.com/bankofcanada/status/1655603693264203777?t=pwUEVZiE_0penkIa11OBLQ&s=19
There's inherent bias in the questions, which may skew how people percieve other options like Bitcoin:

Also, the answers seem to imply they intend to impose limits for how much $ Canadians can hold or receive - they should be asking instead whether we should treat digital dollars like cash if they intend to replace cash

The consultation is overall childish, I hope there's an opportunity for more nuanced feedback on something this important! Thatvsaid, I'm glad there are some spots for more feedback - here's mine on if I think Canada can keep a secure CBDC

Also, lol,

Thatāll be you on a list then! Will have a look later. I wish they would drop the fluffy digital dollar nonsense and start referring to programmable vouchers.
Freeland and Trudeau have already provided a preview of where this is headed with debanking political opposition. Digital Moosebux will be a hard fork of the Digital Yuan:
Savings limits. Expiry dates. Geographic ring fencing. Personalized inflation and interest rates. Over your carbon allowance, bus tickets only. Sorry maāam, too much beef for you this month, bugs only until next paycheque. Etc.
Ah, here we go, right on schedule.
I #HaveMySay everyday by opting out and stacking sats.

#[0]ā Congrats on closing the 88 Sats founder group! Enjoyed your latest podcast and was wondering if you were able to dig up any more about the full reserve credit union opening in BC?
There must be a German word for the state a house has to be in beyond which its owners are too embarrassed to get a cleaner.
Amazing. Iām aware you can increase your earn rate with engagement but not sure what the weighting is, would love to know. I believe boosting others helps, along with contributing to the clip library. Suspect you get a boost for being a podcaster, also!
I ā¤ļø 7 sat/min mornings on Fountain.
Weāve always been polite with Google, even if itās achingly dim, because weād like our kids to treat all entities, biological or technological, with respect and empathy. Didnāt think weād be here quite so soon.
Will get this soon as practical, loving your work this past year or so. Looking forward to distributing to friends in international development circles.
Famously always thirty years away. Until one day it isnāt.
Lots of money flowing into the space now, some very serious talent being applied, and with new capabilities like Deepmindās AI working on containment field design the odds are shortening every month.
Itās the serious transition path we should be pushing for (after vastly increasing fission deployment through SMR, etc), and the next big step-change in human capability that will transfer well to multiplanetary.
Completely at odds with ādo less with lessā low-density renewables and degrowth narrative, of course.
This is indeed significant. I keep a close eye on job openings at the fusion co. in my city. Yes, changing the money will change the world. So will vastly increasing the energy.
Amazing that this person isnāt an orange-pill celeb - or at least my very limited research didnāt turn up a name or handle on Google or ChatGPT. Remaining anon super impressive. Hopefully heās on #nostr!
Everything old is new again.
The glorious renewable revolution returns Europe to the days of scouring the landscape for anything to burn.

Heard during cabin announcement:
āIn the event of emergency, if you are wearing a mask please ensure you remove it before attempting to put your oxygen mask onā
Some folks really attached to those things still, I guess.
Twitter this week: āhereās my fourteen part thread authored by ChatGPT for maximum punch and engagementā
This local creative writing top courtesy of Substack was short-lived, it seems weāre now descending into the grey goo of AI authored blah.
Actually had to go to a fiat bank today for some foreign notes. Twenty minutes in line listening to various fees, holds, identity and paperwork problems, goodness we are so early ā”ļø
Aye. Gerhard Schrƶder did sterling work for the Energiewende before leaving German politics for the upper echelons of Gazprom. Total coincidence.
