What they've been aiming for hasn't been a secret at all
The only thing that really distinguishes govt from any other business or charity is forced funding. If they don't force you to pay then it's just a voluntarily funded service provider competing for customers in an open market like any other. If you don't believe in forced funding, then congratulations, you have graduated to anarcho-capitalism.
All forms of lowest common denominator (popular vote) choice making need to die. And we don't need "representatives" to make descisions for us. We don't need a special organization offering anything that can't be offered by anyone else. We need crowd funding & other creative voluntary ways of funding necessary organizations & services, a decent private dispute resolution infrastructure, mutual aid societies & insurance cooperatives with incentives balanced using bitcoin collateral & multisig contracts.

There is no reasonable argument for taxation. People are either just greedy & malicious or stupid & afraid, & I suspect there's a lot of overlap between the two.
Believing some good or service is "needed" isn't a justification for the use of force. People NEED food & people NEED shoes, & voluntary transactions take care of those things quite well. Historically, when govts control food production people starve, and yet people wonder why there is so much injustice today when the govt controls the justice system ๐ค it's just not that hard to figure out.

Someone asked why we should prefer truthful actions over useful actions when truth is often hated.
I don't think the two are actually at odds if your time preference is low enough. But whenever it appears that what is useful is at odds with what is truthful, (people are jailed or censored or persecuted for telling the truth or for asking certain questions) that is an indication that someone or some thing has divorced societal feedback mechanisms from reality, allowing people to be rewarded for the perpetuation of some sort of fraud or delusion. Societal delusions are always unsustainable in the long run, so this is your signal that the herd is headed for a cliff. If you want to have any hope of living in a sane world, and for your kids & loved ones to be able to do the same, then it is your responsibility to communicate or demonstrate what is true as effectively & efficiently as possible. And I think people often wildly overestimate their ability to be truly happy & enjoy "success" gained by renoucing or denying their own faculties or beliefs.
All the aspects of reality that we refuse to embrace will eventually become demons that haunt us from the shadows.
Just always seems to be an infinite headache.
Guy pointed out when we were talking earlier that when you say there's no good way to share files, some computer person will say "just use FTP" & that's great for less than 1% or the people in less than 1% of the situations where I need to send a file. These problems need to be solved in a way that is mobile device & parent levels of user friendly. One click sharing from any device to any device, any file size, no middle man risk, etc.
