An contrarian, freedom-focussed, inclusionist husband, father and friend with pronounced BTC maximalist, an-cap, leanings. Normal then!

As you get older, you’ll realize that a $30,000 watch and a $30 watch both tell the same time.

A Gucci wallet and a Target wallet hold the same amount of money.

A $10,000,000 house and a $100,000 house host the same loneliness.

A Toyota will also drive you as far as a Bentley.

True happiness is not found in materialistic things, it comes from the love and laughter found with each other.

Stay humble… the holes dug for us in the ground are all the same size.

….and stack sats.

2500 year old Ancient Hellenic Graffiti on the Statue of Ramesses at Abu Simbel, #Egypt.

Dating back to 591 BC in Egypt, a #Greek mercenary soldier carved the following phrase on the leg of a giant statue of Ramesses II:

"When King Psamatikhos came to Elephantine,

those who sailed with Psammatikhos the son of Theokles wrote this,

and they came upstream above Kerkis as far as the river

permits. Potasimto commanded the non-native speakers, Amasis the Egyptians.

Arkhon son of Amoibikhos inscribed us, and Peleqos son of Oudamos".

The Inscription was carved by Ionian Greek mercenaries in the Egyptian army under Psammetichus II (594-588 BC) on the temple of Abu Simbel in Nubia, using the Hellenic Milesian alphabet.

The general Potasimto (the Greek version of Egyptian “Padisematawy”) is known from other Egyptian inscriptions as having commanded Greek and Carian troops; while Amasis (Egyptian Ahmose) was a military officer who himself later became pharaoh (570–526 BC) after Apries, Psammetikhos’ son and successor, was killed in battle. Amasis was also known to have married a Hellenic Cyrenean princess known as Ladice.

The carver signed his name with a pun at the end of his sentence stating the words "Axe, son of no one", referring to his axe that he probably used to carve the phrase. Greeks had a custom of referring to themselves as sons or daughters of their parental names, as observed in the Homeric hymns frequently. An example would be "Odysseus, son of Laertes".

Today I visited a school for mentally challenged and disabled kids that didn’t have a lick of AC.

Classrooms do have ceiling fans but they do sweet fuck all when it gets to a certain temperature.

It was 35 degrees + humid today but felt like 42.

That’s like when you open the oven door to check on your chicken.. every time you step outside.

Why was I there?

Well bitcoiners at btccuracao funded the school’s brand new WiFi.

I wanted to see the impact of this donation and speak to a poorer community about their experience with btc.

Btccuraco paid the internet company that installed the WiFi in Sats as part of the donation. It’s one of many grassroots initiatives they undertake to try to show that bitcoin is better money.

The new WiFi is a total game changer for the school and the teachers were tearful explaining how much it has helped them teach, inspire and lead these less fortunate kids.

But it only goes so far.

The solar panels atop the school’s long roof “stopped working” this week.

A govt contractor installed the panels this year as a “go green” initiative.

Long story of govt enraging incompetence short, basically half the school had working WiFi + ceiling fans. Sometimes the electricity simply cuts out.

So one half of the school had classrooms of engaged kids with YouTube access + useful visual aids for the kids in a semi manageable heat

while the other half slowly cooked and tried to read books in the inferno.

My white shirt was wet and transparent by the time I finished the school tour. I was like how the feck are these kids gonna get a chance in life?

I interviewed the head of ICT who was gushing about the new WiFi and was saying how some of the kids can now learn to code with this Minecraft coding thing.

She had the biggest heart. But like many islanders she had been crypto scammed a few years ago and was still really reluctant about bitcoin.

Really saddening because of course no sane person thinks “oh yeah I’m gonna learn about bitcoin now I sold my gold necklace for a crypto thing 5 years ago and never got the money back.”

I managed to send her some sats to say thank you but if I’m honest I think it’s coz I was recording this during the interview.

In all, I left the school utterly humbled and a little bit angry at the world.

I don’t have a nice thing to round off on, sorry.

Bitcoin doesn’t fix everything. And some things utterly suck.

The poor kids. 😬🤯

What tosh! If the poor turbines needed a time out to recover from their overbearing workload, they should have been shutdown of the required period. The miners would have had to pay for higher cost power or shut down too. 🤡

I’ve had the good fortune to meet two local Bitcoiners in my city this week via Cody Ellingham’s Transformation of Value podcast.

Hank and I spent two hours at a cafe discussing our journeys to Bitcoin, what we’ve learnt and are keen to learn. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed being able to hold an intelligent conversation about the many aspects of this most fascinating and optimistic subject.

Today, another gent visited me at my showroom, not for furniture, but to introduce himself and to hopefully meet another Bitcoiner.

He had heard me on a recent ToV episode.

He has a fledgling business he’s keen to introduce lightning payments into and even mining generated heating.

We can both share information on implementing these technologies.

Like us, he’s keen to establish a regular Bitcoin meet up. I’m excited to see what we can achieve in a year from now.

Good times.

Don’t get an Umbrel Home. I have recently and the UI always crashes. I’d sent it back, but I suspect they won’t refund me. Start 9 sounds better.
