Beware the "Swan" Token (SWT) on the Etheruem network!

(Evidently my email got pwned.)

That's a long, and rather sad, story. Phases of Marxism and Modernism over the past 100 years has taken a toll. Acts 20:17-38 lived out (wolves within, wolves without). The backlash against the modernist seminaries has bred widespread anti-intellectualism and anti-formalism. I was almost angry when I discovered the rich heritage of creeds, confessions, and catechisms in the Protestant/Reformed tradition--as you said, such a rich heritage, but also *answers* long fought for, clearly stated.

The church (always) needs men "who know the times" and are deeply rooted in Scripture, the "faith once delivered."

I appreciate your kind words. 🤙🏼

1. The place of Divine supremacy belongs to God alone.

2. Worship belongs to God alone.

3. God's name belongs to God alone, do not marshall it for other purposes.

4. The Sabbath belongs to God.

5. Honor is due to parents--it belongs to them, do not withold it.

6. Your neighbor's life is *his*, not yours, don't take it.

7. Your neighbor's wife is *his*, not yours, don't take her.

8. Your neighbor's stuff is *his*, not yours, don't take it.

9. Your neighbor's good name is *his*, don't impugn it falsely.

10. Your neighbor's speedboat isn't *yours*, don't make an idol of it.

The Law here is simply perfect justice--render to each one what is due to him, do not withhold it, neither take it away.

Sorry I got pulled away -- here's a link I found very useful:

I know you can predefine a user, password, WiFi, and turn ssh on/off when writing the image with the Pi Image Writer (whatever it's called, I don't remember now).

Looks like that link is broken. Here's another one -- might be a mirror of the original, it looks the same -- https://tech.avant.net/q/diy-bitcoin-hardware-wallet-with-a-raspberry-pi-zero/

I think the [Westminster Larger Catechism](https://opc.org/lc.html) puts it well:

Q. 150. Are all transgressions of the law of God equally heinous in themselves, and in the sight of God?

A. All transgressions of the law are not equally heinous; but some sins in themselves, and by reason of several aggravations, are more heinous in the sight of God than others.

Q. 151. What are those aggravations that make some sins more heinous than others?

A. Sins receive their aggravations,

1. From the persons offending; if they be of riper age, greater experience or grace, eminent for profession, gifts, place, office, guides to others, and whose example is likely to be followed by others.

2. From the parties offended: if immediately against God, his attributes, and worship; against Christ, and his grace; the Holy Spirit, his witness, and workings; against superiors, men of eminency, and such as we stand especially related and engaged unto; against any of the saints, particularly weak brethren, the souls of them, or any other, and the common good of all or many.

3. From the nature and quality of the offence: if it be against the express letter of the law, break many commandments, contain in it many sins: if not only conceived in the heart, but breaks forth in words and actions, scandalize others, and admit of no reparation: if against means, mercies, judgments, light of nature, conviction of conscience, public or private admonition, censures of the church, civil punishments; and our prayers, purposes, promises, vows, covenants, and engagements to God or men: if done deliberately, willfully, presumptuously, impudently, boastingly, maliciously, frequently, obstinately, with delight, continuance, or relapsing after repentance.

4. From circumstances of time, and place: if on the Lord’s day, or other times of divine worship; or immediately before or after these, or other helps to prevent or remedy such miscarriages: if in public, or in the presence of others, who are thereby likely to be provoked or defiled.

Q. 152. What doth every sin deserve at the hands of God?

A. Every sin, even the least, being against the sovereignty, goodness, and holiness of God, and against his righteous law, deserveth his wrath and curse, both in this life, and that which is to come; and cannot be expiated but by the blood of Christ.

...sounds rough, but stay tuned for the good news...

Q. 153. What doth God require of us, that we may escape his wrath and curse due to us by reason of the transgression of the law?

A. That we may escape the wrath and curse of God due to us by reason of the transgression of the law, he requireth of us repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ, and the diligent use of the outward means whereby Christ communicates to us the benefits of his mediation.

...ok, so is this faith that is required an arduous self-flagellating work?

Q. 70. What is justification?

A. Justification is an act of God’s free grace unto sinners, in which he pardoneth all their sins, accepteth and accounteth their persons righteous in his sight; not for anything wrought in them, or done by them, but only for the perfect obedience and full satisfaction of Christ, by God imputed to them, and received by faith alone.

Q. 71. How is justification an act of God’s free grace?

A. Although Christ, by his obedience and death, did make a proper, real, and full satisfaction to God’s justice in the behalf of them that are justified; yet inasmuch as God accepteth the satisfaction from a surety, which he might have demanded of them, and did provide this surety, his own only Son, imputing his righteousness to them, and requiring nothing of them for their justification but faith, which also is his gift, their justification is to them of free grace.

Q. 72. What is justifying faith?

A. Justifying faith is a saving grace, wrought in the heart of a sinner by the Spirit and Word of God, whereby he, being convinced of his sin and misery, and of the disability in himself and all other creatures to recover him out of his lost condition, not only assenteth to the truth of the promise of the gospel, but receiveth and resteth upon Christ and his righteousness, therein held forth, for pardon of sin, and for the accepting and accounting of his person righteous in the sight of God for salvation.

Q. 73. How doth faith justify a sinner in the sight of God?

A. Faith justifies a sinner in the sight of God, not because of those other graces which do always accompany it, or of good works that are the fruits of it, nor as if the grace of faith, or any act thereof, were imputed to him for his justification; but only as it is an instrument by which he receiveth and applieth Christ and his righteousness.

Q. 74. What is adoption?

A. Adoption is an act of the free grace of God, in and for his only Son Jesus Christ, whereby all those that are justified are received into the number of his children, have his name put upon them, the Spirit of his Son given to them, are under his fatherly care and dispensations, admitted to all the liberties and privileges of the sons of God, made heirs of all the promises, and fellow-heirs with Christ in glory.

I'm getting other people's posts in my #umbrel private relay. Most are responses to my posts.

Thinking about Mountain DEW for some reason.

On the Trinity, see John Owen's [Brief Vindication](https://ccel.org/ccel/owen/trinity/trinity.i.html)

For a brief response regarding Hellenism, see Michael Horton's [Hellenistic or Hebrew?](https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Hellenistic-or-Hebrew-Open-Theism-and-Reformed-Horton/8fc416fd8bf9c04b4f98af616d738a9e585f2a6d)

I don't see how Hegel comes into play at all. The Gnostics were dealt with soundly by Irenaeus.

...the rest of those charges can be laid at the feet of gnosticism but not Trinitarian doctrine. For (probably) the best defense of the "self-contained ontological Trinity" against Hegel's (ancient) ideas, see Cornelius Van Til - free courses available at [Reformed Forum](https://reformedforum.org)

but then what to make of all of this? :

"This book is an exposure of the greatest assurances of Catholic Christian Apologists. When faced with a Protestant opponent, the seething arrogance and pretended intellectual superiority of these men is shattered on the rocks of this book. This book details the evolution of Hellenistic philosophy through its Pre-Christian, Gnostic and Neoplatonic eras finding its perpetual home in the Christian Church. The doctrine of the Trinity will be shown to be grounded in the ancient pantheistic doctrine of the Monad Huperousia, the One, transcending all the categories of human language; not the concrete personal creator of the Bible but the psychological state in one’s head when in mystic trance. I will demonstrate how the Trinity doctrine affects one’s entire worldview working out into a mystic Ascetic Ethical philosophy and a Communist Political and Economic philosophy. The egalitarian Godhead of Trinitarianism and the Filioque is the basis for the modern doctrines of Equality of Opportunity, Equality of Outcome, and Gender and Racial Equality which have resulted in mass genocide and social and economic chaos in the west. The Trinity doctrine is also based in the Hegelian Dialectic and the Neoplatonic idea that all distinctions inherently imply hostility which also has enormous social implications. All in all I will show this doctrine to be one of the worst ideas in human history."

Clearly we're using different definitions of "exist" - God *is* from all eternity. He didnt need to take on flesh to appear in history, however. Think of the many epiphanies in Scripture. Restricting existence to "in time and space" is rather limiting and rule out God.

I think some of your questjons might be answered by what we call the communicable attributes of God (how are we like him?) and thr incommunicable attributes of God (how are we not like him?)
