They say that you meet yourself when you meditate π I don't mean that as an offense at all, I hear you. I find myself very annoying at times during meditation. But that's exactly the stuff to honestly process. Sadhguru put this something like that: "If you sit in silence and it's unbearable, then you are not keeping yourself good company."
Amazing π€
Looks like a loop π A meditation practice has the power to change your subconscious reaction patterns. So, in between 'pray' and 'pray' there should be some less issues over time.
Beautifully put π
The first noble truth of Gotama Buddha - universal suffering - often sounds too harsh for our modern ears. Few people will come to agree that they are 'suffering', which is often associated with physical pain. But a stubborn resistance, a like or dislike, an inability to accept a situation as it is, is enough to feel persistently unhappy. The first noble truth establishes the fact that nothing will always go the way we want. This recognization is the basis for taking the next steps towards lasting joy and happiness ... the other three noble truths π

When I say the Wim Hof method connects us with pure nature, I mean first and foremost that it reduces anxiety and gives us the confidence to follow our intuition. Well, how does it do that? Good thing is that the 'Hoffers' make a big effort to speak the language of current-day science.
During the breathing practice, the body produces large amounts of adrenaline, up to 10 times more than during a first-time bungee jump π This adrenaline spike has several effects, one of which is that our body produces more energy and brings us in a heightened state of awareness. Like sudden super powers when we have to quickly face or escape a dangerous situation. As the adrenaline rush is only short term, the body adapts positively and enhances its functionality in the face of future stressful situations.
At the same time, the full conscious breathing and extended breath retention phases stimulate the vagus nerve which makes us feel more calm and relaxed. It activates a part of our brain which enhances internal focus and awareness of the present moment - meaning we worry less about the past and future.
So within a short period of time, the Wim Hof method simultaneously makes us more energetic and focussed, as well as relaxed and present. Less anxiety, more confidence, closer to our natural state of being.

This is how my everyday Wim Hof breathing practice looks like by now ... average 4 minutes of breath retention. It's not about competition at all.
But can you imagine what happens inside when you are able to just lie there for 4 minutes in absolute stillness? Just to be aware of whatever passes by in the moment?

The Wim Hof Method is a simple and transformative technique for inner freedom. After only a short while of dedicated practice it makes you happier, stronger and healthier.
These are the 3 pillars it is based on:
- conscious breathing
- cold exposure
- mind focus

This is an amazing post, thank you π
Just this morning, I was expressing that with the food currently available in supermarkets - even most 'organic' products - we are essentially microdosing toxic substances every day. The food is also deprived of its original nourishing potential for various (often economic) reasons.
Added up, this causes a constant low level of inflammation in our bodies which is a natural reaction for activating our innate immune systems against toxins. If we have inflammation for too long - and we do - and then add to it all the other stressors in our lives (environment, livelihood, anxieties etc.) then we develop modern-day chronic diseases. We become dependent on specific medicines which alleviate some suffering, but don't heal the disease.
There are natural ways to address latent inflammation, breathwork in particular, which simultaneously heightens our awareness of body sensations.
Once this awareness is established, we can listen to and trust our bodies better, and as you well said ... eat responsibly, eat less, rise in consciousness. What we take in is what we will be made of tomorrow.
β¨
Indeed and that's fantastic to hear π I haven't heard about holotropic breathwork yet, so I'll check I out.
Love it!
When you are lost in any of these emotional states, it's a good starting point for self-awareness.
Especially point 4, yes! BREATHING reduces anxiety, makes you wanna connect with nature, gives you the confidence to explore for yourself π«β‘
