With my climate, I'm putting in my bean seeds this weekend. Having them already blooming would be amazing.
People always want to put other people in a category. With homeschooling (and most other things) I don't fit any of the categories, especially because my kids' learning styles and abilities are so different. The way I homeschooled my super gifted eldest son was completely different than the way I homeschool my youngest son who has Down Syndrome. There is basically zero commonality between the 2. Good homeschooling isn't about a following a particular homeschooling style. It is about customizing schooling to align with each kid's learning style, strengths, weaknesses, and interests. That is a big part of why homeschooling works so well. Even if the parents aren't trained teachers and even if the parents weren't particularly good in school, this customization (and caring) educates better than the best teacher teaching in a style that is wrong for the particular student.

I used to hate reading Revelation because it seemed so confusing (particularly after going through the 7 churches). I couldn't figure out what it meant. It didn't make sense that people all over the world could see what is happening or that buying and selling could be controlled. Now with crypto currencies, smart phones, mRNA viruses that can be made in a lab, etc., reading Revelation is like watching the evening news. I do think the time is near, but exactly what near means is, of course, harder to determine. Is it days, years, decades? I don't know, but I don't think it will be centuries.
Of course I could be wrong. There were people in the past (more than 1,000 years ago) that thought they were living in the end times. Still, we seem to have all of the technology and global organizations to make Revelation a reality. Time will tell.
We learn much more and grow much more in difficult times than we do when things are going well and things are easy.
I find it so crazy that he argues so well that science proves what the Bible says, but won't even look at evidence of a literal 6 day creation or a young Earth. His cognitive dissonance is hard to comprehend.
I'm leaning more towards time for the rapture. I'd be all in on this point if a few more family members and friends, especially my youngest son, would accept Jesus.
Everyone has been told that science disproves the Bible. This is an absolute lie. In reality, science supports the Bible, if not fully proving its truths. The idea that the universe and life happened by accident is totally contrary to logic.
FYI, I agree with the information in this article, but not with everything Metaxas says or believes. He uses amazing arguments like this, but still doesn't believe in a literal 6 day creation or the approximately 6,000 years described by the Bible even though it best fits the words of the Bible and science (when scientists are honest).

If by splinter, you mean break up until all that is left is individuals with no more power or influence than the average citizen, then I agree wholeheartedly. Nothing less will fix the corruption in the CIA, NSA, and FBI.
The US WAS a Christian nation. Based on the government's actions lately, I can't see how the US can still be considered a Christian nation. It seems like the government always acts contrary to the Bible now, so the government, if not the people, is definitely anti-Christian.

I have been considering getting sheep/lambs. We have a between 4.5 & 5 acres fenced, but with house, barn, and garden, probably a little more than 3 acres (maybe almost 4 acres) that could be used for sheep. Most of that space is irrigated, so it grows grass pretty good during the growing season, even though that growing season is short. If I am trying to rotational graze, how would I be best to divide up the space? It seems like it would be hard to divide up the space smaller than 1/2 or 1/4 acre. If we assume 3 acres that is 6-12 pastures to move the sheep around in. Is it better to move them every day even though they will be back in only 6-12 days or would it be better to keep them in an area for 3-7 days, so they don't get back on the same pasture for longer to try to break any pest cycles? How small of a pasture makes sense? I would probably only have 3-6 sheep initially and I don't see ever going over a dozen.

If I get feeder lambs to raise for meat, how long do I need to raise them? Is it possible to buy lambs in the Spring and slaughter them late Fall to Early Winter so I don't have to feed them through our long harsh winters?
I was thinking I might be able to convince my husband to try lambs if we could have a 6 month or so tryout period that would be a near guaranteed success. If we liked them a lot or food shortages became a thing, we could change to raising them full time because we would have the setup and have some experience.

This is one of the most frustrating facts of life.

Your lamb looks fantastic. I'm trying to convince my husband to let me get a couple lambs to grow out. He just spent a long time mowing. I'm using the "sheep will mow for you" argument.😊
Our garden is just starting to get growing. Where I am we still have lows in the high 30s and high 40s and could theoretically go below freezing. Still things are starting to grow.
I'm a very bad passenger, but my son doesn't mind.
The only serious fight I've ever had with my husband over 20+ years was when we were sharing a snowmobile. We decided to never share a snowmobile/ATV/jetski again.
I like NOSTR. I have been using Minds to get most of my news. That gives me the why, then I go to NOSTR and see all of the stuff getting done and am encouraged to get away from my computer and get stuff done. NOSTR is more motivating.

I could say I have lockdown nostalgia, but not because someone forced me to stay home. Not having appointments to go to most days and getting to stay home and work in my garden was so relaxing and so healing for me. I need to try to figure out how to fit a little more of that in my regular life and not allow myself to get back into the rat race.
I just ate the first asparagus from my garden just over a week ago. It was great. Unfortunately we went out of town and most of the new spears are already going to ferns, so they won't be good anymore. I've already ordered more.
