The weather has been weird this year. We had a record breaking snow storm of over 3 feet of wet snow in April. It has rained several times a week (normally we get only 12 inches/year, and I'm pretty sure we've already surpassed that). We got 1.5" in an hour and about 3" in 24 hours last week. Last night we got hard rain and hail and today, the 2nd day of summer, is supposed to be a high of 61 F.
Overall I like the weather. The rain has been good for my garden. The cooler temperatures are make it not miserable when I'm outside weeding the garden or doing other yardwork. Everything is bright green and beautiful where usually things would already be a drab tan by now.
I have no idea whether this is just a fluke year or a change in climate, but I'll take it.

Those people who are properly worried about the deficit unfortunately offer an unacceptable solution: increasing taxes. Curing deficits by raising taxes is equivalent to curing someone's bronchitis by shooting him. The "cure" is far worse than the disease.
For one reason, as many critics have pointed out, raising taxes simply gives the government more money, and so the politicians and bureaucrats are likely to react by raising expenditures still further. Parkinson said it all in his famous "Law": "Expenditures rise to meet income." If the government is willing to have, say, a 20 percent deficit, it will handle high revenues by raising spending still more to maintain the same proportion of deficit.
But even apart from this shrewd judgment in political psychology, why should anyone believe that a tax is better than a higher price? It is true that inflation is a form of taxation, in which the government and other early receivers of new money are able to expropriate the members of the public whose income rises later in the process of inflation. But, at least' with inflation, people are still reaping some of the benefits of exchange. If bread rises to $10 a loaf, this is unfortunate, but at least you can still eat the bread. But if taxes go up, your money is expropriated for the benefit of politicians and bureaucrats, and you are left with no service or benefit. The only result is that the producers' money is confiscated for the benefit of a bureaucracy that adds insult to injury by using part of that confiscated money to push the public around.
No, the only sound cure for deficits is a simple but virtually unmentioned one: cut the federal budget. How and where? Anywhere and everywhere.

It would be easy to cut the budget. There are entire departments that could be eliminated and most people, who don't work for the government would either not notice or have there lives be made better.

It isn't knowing how. It is that our rabbits are sweeter, cuter, and cudlier than anything we've butchered before. We had zero issue with chickens. We've hunted and field dressed deer and elk. Somehow rabbits feel different.

On top of the Soviet-style surveillance state, a CBDC is an existential threat to the banking system, to the US dollar and would give central planners push-button control over every element of your life.

Government doesn't care what people want. Those in government want control and nothing will give them more control than a CBDC, so it will be pushed hard.
Unfortunately, as much as most people don't want it, if the government starts giving out entitlements and other handouts (what people consider "free" money), most people will jump in with arms open wide in order to get their money. Once people are used to using the CBDC, they will remove the ability to use other currencies including the plain USD. It will be too late to do anything about it at that time. I do think precious metals and bitcoin will help and be a workaround at least for a while. It is hard to know longterm.

Homeschooling your kids is a good way to fix the mal-education. It causes you to relook at everything you learned as a kid and frequently you learn that you were lied to, or at least misled.
When I was in school I had multiple teachers repeat "the white man killed off the buffalo" so many times that I believed they were extinct. I later went on vacation in Colorado and was riding down I-70 where there is a huge buffalo ranch. I saw buffalo as far as the eye could see. I thought it was a miracle. Now that I live out west, I know of several buffalo ranches and can buy ground buffalo in my regular grocery store, including sometimes in Walmart.
I'm betting most of my teachers had never seen a buffalo but had been taught the same phrase and probably thought buffalo were extinct. It is amazing how people are taught a phrase as fact even though it is entirely misleading and that leads people to believing lies.
Homeschooling has allowed me to relearn what is the truth and unlearn the lies I was taught and make sure my kids are never taught those same lies. Homeschooling is not only good for your kids. It is good for you.

I wouldn't be surprised if all of them contribute in at least some cases, but I'd also guess (educated guess) that the mothers inflicting this on their sons is the biggest and most common contributor. I don't believe hardly any child believes they were born into the wrong body unless someone, in a position of authority or influence, suggests it to the child.
