This is without question the number one priority for an open decentralised communication protocol. If Damus can break borders in this way it will by extension increase peace amongst mankind as well as promote seamless cross border transactions via #bitcoin layer 2s.

Thanks to some analysis from our intern nostr:npub17plqkxhsv66g8quxxc9p5t9mxazzn20m426exqnl8lxnh5a4cdns7jezx0 , according to opt-in AppStore analytics one of the biggest issues with Damus is user retention. 99% of people stop using damus after 6 months.
In the next version we will be looking at ways to get mores users to that “ah ha” moment that gets them to stick around like all of us addicts.
Ideas welcome! Notifications is obviously a big one, but maybe we could make it easier to get people their first sats.
Better more native translation would be huge for me. I come to Nostr seeking mind share across cultures.

Ofc, all clients fall short of making this UX possible. But the protocol allows it and we should build software that enables it.
I do agree with this. If I select interest in a specific topic I should be automatically connected to any relay dedicated to that topic.
Jurisdictional arbitrage is critical to the long term viability of the human race. Racing towards the destruction of borders leads to a technological top down centralised dystopia. What we need is a greater level of experimentation and innovation regarding societal structures across the worlds. Borders are useful at this juncture in history.
