Today is a cloudy and rainy November. I got 100% cotton pajama pants from Old Navy for that $8 sale. Going to a store has become quite rare. I also barely ever shop. As usual, the music at the store was too loud and terrible. The lights were too bright and harsh. The clothing displays were dizzying. We were offered a store card twice by the cashier. The second time, she said we’d get 65% off the total amount. I was surprised and a little bit tempted. … later, there was a comment on a Reddit (economics?) post saying something about how stores “hand out debt like candy”.

If I ever had to work in a clothing store again, I would wear a baseball cap for the lights, and ear plugs or headphones for the loud music. It probably wouldn’t be allowed. Maybe I could get a doctor’s note.

I guess this is a slice of life post.

I'd recommend checking out earplugs that don't completely block out noise like sleeping ones. I have a pair from a Belgian brand called Loop, but I'm sure there's some US brands. I use them when I have to go to the shop or even at home if I can hear the neighbours talking outside, or when I'm overwhelmed and I find my partner too loud (for example when he's loading the dishwasher). I'm sure those would be allowed as you can have normal conversation while wearing them.

At the beginning of the year, I could barely walk half a mile before the pain in my right foot became too much.

Just finished a month of walking almost 2 miles/day. 🎉

This month, I increase my step count by 500 steps to 4,500 steps/day.

Final goal is 10,000 steps/day by December 2026 for our trip to Disney World. 🐭🏰

Here's my stand from last weekend! It was quite successful, but the two full days of sitting+standing still made my back hurt so bad I haven't been able to work (I'm a masseuse), so I've lost way more earnings this way than I got with the stand. Life is funny that way.

I love sprouts! It's so fun to watch them grow, they are delicious and nutritious, yum ❤️

Final steps are polishing off any rough soldering remains that could snag on the skin or clothing and attaching the chain. Sometimes I add a black patina. And that's it! It's quite a lengthy process. I'm currently working on a new display setup, using nice books.

Step no.4!

Making shapes out of a thicker wire and soldering them on to make the stones into pendants. This is the most creative part of the process, though it is not my favourite part, as that is hunting for nice minerals to turn into jewelry. 🤭 I have waaay to many stones at home...

In this step you have to be really careful not to overheat everything with the soldering gun, that's why I make several pendants at once and switch in between. If the solder overheats, the shapes just fall off as everything gets liquid!

Here's step no. 3: reinforcing the edges of the soldered part with wire. This ensures more sturdiness and a more polished finish. It's slow work.

Also, I'm still super grateful to my friends who didn't want for my hobbies to kill me and got me a fume extractor for my birthday a few years back.

I am making new pendants for a mineral expo next weekend.

Just got word my mom had to put down her black lab, Dante. He was a rescue from the BSPCA, and had a long, happy, morning mountain romping life.

Someone else was originally going to take Dante home, but decided not to after seeing the dog had food allergies.

We never found out what those food allergies were, as Dante ate anything and everything.

He was a good boi, though early in his life he was more 95% WTH?! 🤦 and 5% Good Dog. 🐶

Yeah, online said the iron pill with 65 mg is probably too much for most people. It’s possible to get the recommended 32 mg from eating a variety of whole foods. I get 2-3 day periods, workout twice a week.

That’s a good change lol, from spaghetti and tuna. 😯

Hot damn, 65, that's high! You can't even buy such numbers in the stores here in the EU because high dosages can be dangerous (overdosing is possible), they have to be prescribed by a doctor. Mine are 30mg and that's on the high end of what's available.
