It pushes all communication into approved and surveiled channels, the existing big players. A win for govt, and a win for Big tech because they get more eyeballs to feed ads.
More pretty kitties 😸
I like browsing GIFs of giraffes in my jeep.
Carl looks so happy, I love it. What other happy animal friends are on Nostr?
I've used zenni before, 5 pairs for less than one cost at the optometrist. Glasses are way better when they become basically disposable. It's a racket, a monopoly preying on peoples health.
Multiple relays would be more resilient to server take down or blocking, an important consideration. This also makes it so one relay operator can't censor people, bypassing a problem common in the fediverse.
And even when on the radar it becomes a game of whack-a-mole, stopping UK relay operators as they pop up & blocking international ones. Good luck to the ministry of truth 🫡
The greatest threat is probably removing apps from app stores. That would block a lot of people from accessing relays. It makes good web interface even more important. If they can be totally hosted on Nostr, without depending on centralized servers to host then, even better.
All those 90° angles are beautiful.
A downside of the permissionlessness I guess.
If the maintainer is anonymous, that might help. With Nostr there is no web host to speak of that can be punished, the data just lives on relays. It depends on if the interface needs a server to host. Can it be an app, or entirely hosted on Nostr somehow?
Bring able to be simply themed was a nice feature of traditional forums too. Most modern replacements just all look the same from community to community. Communities should have personality.
I dislike it being non paginated. Endless scrolling is a dark pattern. It's display & formatting of quotes is lacking as well.
Perfection.
The embedding quotes is the important part I think. That way one can be on page 42 and still get context without having to scroll forever and read 20 pages of unnecessary posts. It's nice to have a link to jump back though.
