Must have been an update to Primal because zaps seem to now finally be working. Alhamdulillah! That was three months of learning more about bitcoin, nostr, and many other things and couldn’t be happier to be able to zap on Eid 🙂

Ramadan thoughts from the past week:
As Muslims we need to embrace time as a qualitative reality. Sure calculation my be permissible, but it is not from the sunnah.
Trying to do too much is the quickest way to burn out and (at least for myself) get sick. Consistency is king! And 2-3 goals is best. Be kind to yourself. Embrace relaxation and take a sunnah nap.
Keep your food simple. Make sure it is halal and aim for tayyib. I personally cut gluten and sugar a few months ago and have been mostly carnivore and my body feels like it is thriving! Also drink as much water as the food you eat.
Arabic only in the home. I’m not fluent myself yet so this is a big step for me. Ramadan is the month of Quran which is in Arabic so I’m trying to do all my audio content exclusively in Arabic. Amazing immersive experience so far!
Donate some Bitcoin to someone in need. If you’ve been DCAing for anything longer than 6 months you are insanely profitable, mashaAllah. I’ll make another note on this topic, but sadiqa is alway a good decision which much benefit.

I recently swung by a café to get some remote work done. First time I’d had the opportunity to do this in probably five years. I was in the mood for tea, so I drove half-an-hour to go check out the only local spot I could find. Was able to get a decent ginseng oolong but the vibe of the place was just off (felt more like a fast food joint) and they were blasting pop music non-stop. The music was actually what really got to me as soon as I entered, and once I sat down I put my headphones in to drowned out the noise with salawat.
Is this the reality now? That everyplace has to have some background music playing? Elevator music was originally commissioned to give the perception of smooth and safe motion to the internal appearance of a static cage. Now one can’t escape noise pollution without a quiet pod.
What was once meant to beautify the mundane has now become an inescapable, infinite playlist modulating your pocketbook.
Employment is no longer about economizing the body's physical energy but rather its mental aptitude. AI's only hope of being freedom-tech will be in decentralization and self-hosting. Otherwise it is just another element of hypermodernity's cult of marginal progress. Tech is a drug, but the choice is are you an addict or a physician.

Curious, is this move more an action against telecom or nostr? Nostr seems to have some solid advantages over email for newsletters , but telecom is still a giant for KYC.
Consumption and contribution have collided into the economization of the content creator. There is a new IG filter every 48 hours, yet no longer any filtration systems to allow the metaphorical cream to rise to the top. In fact, we now have an utterly cluttered society full of homegrown and half-baked content. Where has the milking-cow gone? More likely, she has been replaced with soy or a synthesized alternative.
Case in point – my own experimental toe-dipping into the ocean of AI art generation: My toddler loves cartoons. Personally, I’m disgusted with the quality available, not that toddlers should be watching cartoons anyway (as our pediatrician reminds us), but admittedly this is inescapable in our hypermodern era. So, with AI democratizing animation, I thought why not try to make one myself.
Today I picked up a copy of George MacDonald’s classic The Golden Key. It’s public domain and I would encourage anyone unfamiliar with the fairytale to check it out. I grabbed this copy as I wanted to get a peek at Maurice Sendak’s illustrations from the 1967 edition. I’d seen some hints already and knew the style I was exploring was dissimilar. However, as I flipped through the pages my wife called out over my shoulder, “That’s your aëranth!” (An aëranth is a magical creature that looks like the composite of an owl and a fish). Sure enough, the remarkable similitude between Sendak’s rendering and my AI generated rendering was obvious. I present here both images for your consideration (mine being fully half-baked):
