nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m could you please ask someone to update Electron in Tidal.app?

Hey Jack. I’m more than happy to pay the new DJ pricing - Tidal is far more equitable to artists than the alternatives and I want to support - but nested folders is a must for serious library management.

Dropping out for a bit. On Mastodon.

It‘s almost as bad as people writing and sharing schizophrenic articles to lower people’s IQ and spread paranoia, but that’s more likely down to idiocy than malice.

Thanks. I really enjoyed the podcast. Good storytelling, although I don’t think the 3 options are correct.

Exactly the same for me. Have tried many other apps and no such issue. Even a delete and re-install doesn’t fix. Have since moved to Primal.

Check out wefwef.app for Lemmy

Based on what?

As much as everything else is closed, their web stuff gets more open and better support with each release. iOS 16.4 added push notifications for PWA, historically a major limiter and differentiator.

Check out http://wefwef.app for Lemmy, which is a web clone of Apollo for Reddit. It’s close to a 1:1 match and was built very quickly by one person.

Good web apps look to be a way forward. It’s strange how popular Electron is, yet few are embracing Ionic.

I think macOS is a good example, although the smaller user base makes it harder to compare.

That’s gone in the other direction, from open to closed.

Most users just use the App Store now. However, there are apps that don’t work well with the sandbox and they are free to sell directly to customers.

Then there’s third-party stores, but they don’t seem like huge markets.

And finally things like homebrew.

I think with iOS, there may be a big enough market and demand to see greater success in the third-party app stores.

Unfortunately, I think Apple will lock things down by region, have even nastier warnings, make things as awkward as possible within the letter (rather than spirit) of the law and maybe even drop customer support for any use who’s strayed from their walled garden (“void warranty, you’re on your own”).

It’s going to be difficult for them to navigate and they’ll make it as difficult for everyone else.

Do you think those criticisms are fair and founded?

Plus, difficult to hit the Post button…

Excited to hear you talking about writing something…
