The ditchonomy between custodial and non custodial wallets in Bitcoin is unproductive. As long as both options exists, that is already a win in my book. The ease of bank runs for custodial wallets forces the custodian to up their game in terms of services rendered.

For example, are there any Fiat banks that provide API access to individual accounts? This is possible with a number of custodial Bitcoin wallets which enables interesting use cases and transfer of funds to non custodial solutions.

Programmable money is such a Godsend. It is unfortunate most people are too oblivious to what this offers.

What is the ideal flow for buying on a decentralized exchange?

Ideally...

1. I visit a website. I don't need to download anything.

2. I click BUY or SELL

3. I see some options who to buy from and their asking prices

4. I have a clear understanding of how this thing works. Don't just tell me the payment method, but how that transaction looks like after I hit buy.

5. Sort by payment method

6. Guide me through the transaction or better yet, facilitate it automatically.

What does the dream flow look like?

1. Click buy. You are automatically offered the best deal with your preferred payment method (maybe you specified it earlier).

2. You are provided super simple step by step instructions to finish transaction.

Similar for sell side.

The issue I see with decentralized exchanges:

1. Have to download something

2. The whole thing looks way too complex

3. Not clear how it works

Compare to centralized exchange:

1. Click buy. Done.

See the difference?

I think if we are to improve the UX, we have to think grandma level and start from scratch. No trying to improve a complex trading platform, but really think from the basics. What will grandma need to know or click on and how will she feel about it?

You make it work for grandma. You make it work for everyone.

The issue I see with Bisq (I couldn't install it, got corrupt file) is that it looks like a literal stock trading platform. NOT for an average person. I'd say you have to strip it down to 10% basics to make it work for the average person, provided you do everything else well.

The need for download a software IMO is to improve decentralization. I don't think decentralized exchange can be main stream because it goes require responsibility which the vast majority of people are willing to offload.

This is why fedimint are a better solution/model to mass adoption

Does a pending ecash mean the receiver is yet to claim it #cashu #minibits

Building from source is not for those with faint heart. Documentation goes wrong all the time. Just spent over 2 hours building python 3.8 wheels for blockstream gdk on Ubuntu.

All the examples of AI usage I see in web development involves either image generation or some version of a chatbot. Are there any examples e.g providing a list of functions/API and getting the LLM to orchestrate the decision making process based off a web hook callback? #asknostr

Yeah. Still running into issues with Firefox. Some pages load while some don't. It is so far restricted just to Firefox Mobile which is my default browser.

Just did a napkin math, getting zapped with 20sats for a banger note by 10000 users at the current #bitcoin price of 57000 is $119.7 if one cares about the dollar value.

This for just a post.

#nostr is a big deal. Most just haven't realized it yet

Fedimint is a game changer for local communities.

Snort seems to be working again, yay. I thought it was funny when nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx learned about Snort Deck for the first time live on the dispatch. Oddly enough it didn't work well for him so there are obviously bugs. The Deck is far from where I'd like it to be from design and UX perspective and hope there's a chance Kieran, Martti and I can tackle it again soon... but I know how busy those guys are!

I basically use snort for receiving push notifications at this point.

Just realized #amethyst has #mutinywallet integration now but the flow is kinda broken

Had to manually parse the connection string details from mutiny into amethyst. Still a huge win for self custodial wallets

I have never gotten push notifications on amethyst but use snort instead for push notifications. It's weird and interesting how different #nostr client can compliment each other in ingenious ways

Anyone watching X-Men 97? One of the best shows running now in a long time

Ublock origin configured with all filters does wonders in hiding the cookie banner

It seems the issue occurs when accessing https://snort.social

I tried https://snort.social/trending/notes and was able to get some content displayed
