Language agnostic though my skills are #Python, #Nix, hardware, and "entrepreneurship". People often come to me with their business problems. I usually go to people with technology problems. @ me w/ dank tech npub176jdt070zywkek27u8vnlhthvvekhkwf53525uc9tj9kujwvcpjs50nlmr

I generally agree with the sentiment of your original post.

What I find frustrating is that I've been asking 'how' to localize chipfab in the US for about half a decade, and to my recollection have had zero constructive conversations about it.

People mostly say 'oh, they do really complicated things with big expensive machines....that's about all I know'.

Tariffs come and go no? Did we have budding hardware businesses recently? Would love to dig deeper into the space.

perhaps you understand the supply chains / economic factors better?

It seems China is able to make electronics start to finish without importing...

my local nerds, but need help prompting if you have any pro tips.

entrepreneurship in the united states has turned into one big etsy shop.

if you're looking to start a business but don't know where to start maybe it makes sense to figure out what it would require to start a chip fab.

sometimes working on problems that seem less accessible is a better use of time than using skills or resources already around.

We're dependent on tech, why not try to build it? Vertically integrate our supply chains.

I found these with a quick search. The first one is one I remember hearing was good. Look forward to reading on this myself.

Are you asking 'how it works' as in how it gets made and maintained, or are you asking what it is?

I have found the nix discourse site helpful.

It does seem difficult to learn how to use it well. It could use some more books/people making better in depth educational tools. Might help learn just by having a more playful/open discussion about what you're doing, how you're using it, and how you want to use it.

Ideally it's not a distro that's exclusively used by people who are experienced, but that's how it's marketed currently.

Yaaazz..pretty sure I adopted a mostly Keynesian way of thinking for quite a while. perhaps not the best for me....but I certainly prefer it to mentalities of no economic understanding. Look forward to hearing what you find interesting/dull.

Yea, econ is like a deeper understanding imo, and all those other books are tools to use if you want, but using tools without understanding why is like cutting wood with a saw when you don't know what you're building...or something...I dunno - I'm tired!

Feel free to holla if you wana talk about any of it. Been so long for me I could probs freshen up...but I have a lot of adjacent education and practice as well, perhaps why I haven't been compelled to review.
