Metal, food, wine, travel, literature, philosophy

Metal?! Music or actual physical metal??

Music 😂

A universal wine catalog (like vivino or cellar tracker but better and open) should be very vibe codeable.

👀

Oh yes 😋.

Anyone interested in any of these please leave an emoji and I will follow you

What’s elite theory?

I was wondering the same 😅 Theory that elites are running the show behind the scenes of politicians? Yup, factual.

It’s less so conspiracy theory and moreso analysis showing that in all societies - democratic or not - power naturally concentrates in small groups through organisational advantages, specialised knowledge, and network effects.

Think “the purpose of a system is what it does” for social and political power.

Accurate. This is why "utopias" can never succeed. Someone will always seek more power.

Correct. Which is why it interests me, ancaps accept natural hierarchies will always exist but then have no good answer for power vacuums even though they’ll be the first to point out what happens if you take out a Saddam or Gaddafi or a Mexican cartel.

Bitcoin is the first genuine threat to establishment elites in forever, so I want to know how these dynamics work and how power might shift.

Sociological & political concept that power always tends to concentrate in the hands of a few elites.

Vilfredo Pareto (of Pareto Principal 80/20 fame), Gaetano Mosca who wrote about small organised groups exercising power, Robert Michels who wrote about the Iron Law of Oligarchy, and James Burnham who synthesised it with the Managerial Revolution and our understanding of what we now call the Deep State.

You could say it’s about how power actually works rather than how people think it works, interesting if you’re familiar with ancap ideas about natural voluntary hierarchies.

An academic agent fan? Maybe lol

There was some really good answers when I asked this a while ago, in case you're doing something with the responses ( starting a marketing campaign lol 🤞?) or maybe you're just curious too lol.

I’m trying to get a music community going. Follow me

Expat communities are a good one. "Expats in Bangkok". "Expats in Lagos". That kind of thing.

Bitcoin is useful because you're already dealing with a mad mix of currencies and cross-border fuss.

Anonymity is useful because grumpy expats tend to shoot their mouths off, even in countries where that's not to be advised.

You'll also catch a lot of digital nomads with that net, and they'd be more likely to get into the whole dev side of the Nostr conversation.

Good point! ✍️

I've wrote an article on onboarding expat communities some time back, bunch of numbers in there, but never posted. Gave up on Habla and Highlighter, and now Yakihonne is hit and miss for importing stuff.

Just learned about https://comet.md/ might give that a try.

Yeah, Comet might go places.

It'd be just total lolz if apps like Zapchat and Alexandria prove to be the first reliable long form publishers :winkwithtongue:

I wish we had more people like Crémieux, Brenden Eich, good thinkers/specialists sharing insightful information.

Musicians, FOSS/Linux.

I do both, Shawn. It's not often you see me comment on something else/

Beer.

Craft beer trade for hard to find/regionally available.

Untappd style features would be cool too.

Homebrew recipes, tips

I'm into Homeschooling, the great books of western civilisation (as listed in the book "How To Read A Book) and gaming...

Video games or TTRPGs?

I'm into both.

Videogames and boardgames.

Used to play pen & paper RPGs, but that was ages ago. We had an excellent one in Germany called Das Schwarze Auge (The Black Eye) - infinitely better than D&D...

I took a look at it, and it certainly looks pretty good. I'll probably need to find an English version of the 5th Edition and see how that goes.

Music and gaming are my general communities I'd like to see more of on Nostr.

Subcultures, however, are things like TTRPGs, creative writing, FOSS, FPS games, Monero, Linux and music production off the top of my head.

News and sports are the main things I am missing

Also hate to admit it but I still hop over to Twitter far 2 often to see what is going on in normie land and mess around with shitcoiners

Sports, shoes, travel, niche hobbies

Subsects of news. News on geopolitics, news on wars, politics, elections, medicine, drugs, health, sports. People can tune in to the subsects they want and ignore others.

Heavy Metal 🤘

High quality handmade anything and everything, innovative solutions, imaginative futures. What do we want to do when AI does the grunt work? We have to imagine into this space. Beauty, shared experiences/adventures, lifting less fortunate peoples into wellbeing

I'm surprised there isn't a #cancer community here, since many of the alternative treatments are censored on other platforms.

Fasting, no sugar, green coffee enemas ftw

boomer libertarians

Forensic historians, alchemists, common & maritime law teachers, natural health practicioners, conspiracy analysts, homeschoolers, water witchers, land restorationists, gnostics, natural builders, DIYers, life hackers, mechanics, alternative energy installers, etc etc

Would love to learn more from any and all of those, and lots of groups people have already mentioned!

counter strike nerds here?

Gamers too. Game devs especially.
