Friend shared a pic and it got me thinking… what have I pushed/done since writing this https://medium.com/@arjwright/taps-keyboard-the-evolving-of-voice-and-a-changing-computer-b22c45075e18 — I’m not pushing as hard as I used to; need to accelerate some lagging experiments

Birthday coming up in a few days and kinda waffling about various wallets and such. Been such an interesting series of lessons, that’s for sure.
Have half a mind to see if I could knit a few of these wallets a bit more. But, need to get the ring-based wallet off the ground first.
Then there’s these zaps. Not really sure they demand a “place to go” as much as they are a “spare change” type of wallet. Kinda interesting to learn.
But as a whole, being more than a wallet and a coin has to be the point of all of this. And that part is the further horizon I’m aiming towards. What is at that horizon? No clue. Just kinda going to discover something… interesting
I’m just a watcher and a wanderer
Carefully sowing seeds
Carefully pruning weeds
Leaving imprints
From something hopefully heaven sent
So that those meant
For more
Might find a means to explore their depths
Find the gravity to orbit this mess
And express to themselves even in jest
They are made of the same jets of light and rocks
Pulled together by a universal pair of socks
Uncomfortable as it seems
Their path is not wrought with dirty hots
They are merely stars forming
Where older stars have not
And I too orbit for a while
And carefully watch or cause smiles
So that after awhile
Those seeds and imprints
Blossom in them something when
It’s needed
And until then I watch and blend
Words with friends
Light and sounds and mathematical whims
Just a watcher and a wanderer
From each bright star I do indeed saunter

The weekly post of notable reads just posted at Avanceé… might consider some kind of nostr integration with MicroBlog eventually… and at the same time, shouldn’t nostr and ActivityPub just kinda “talk to one another?” Hadn’t protocols learned this bit already?
https://www.manton.org/2023/04/06/more-posttwitter-plans.html
Will be interesting to see how (non-mastadon) networks handle the Twitter cross-posting bits… while a lot of web vets long for a return to RSS, I don’t think that will happen
Nostr/ActivityPub will be a answer for some. Email and paid networks for others. Not sure that federation will happen the way it could have. There’s something not quite clear to me (yet) about a shape of what’s next… or maybe yesterday’s memory persists just a bit longer
I really miss the web server I used to have on my (Nokia) mobile. Still imagining what things would have looked like if that vision of mobile came forth…
…would be like if relays lived on mobiles and the protocols to connect them were the marketplace where folks aimed to improve usability, security, experience, etc
We are all succeeding and struggling
It’s spring
There’s relief at blossoms
The pressing of breaking thru
The ground to new possibilities
There’s seeds where there was once dew
It’s spring
We are all growing and groaning

Treated today like the old days… biked to several cafés and a lake. Took meetings everywhere. Took time to reflect and plot forward. Was a good day to just be out
The second of spring rains soon comes to a close
What was colorful in welcoming
Turns into colors willed for strength
This observer counts three more waters
Until the painting is complete
And at such a moment will colors spring
Offering this new year a hue never before seen
Never before smelled
Each rain a reminder of things once hidden
Opening into things once to enjoy

Keeping pace, this is the week’s notable reads (and small thoughts) https://www.avancee.agency/2023/04/01/avance-reads-for.html
Day’s all done
So is my voice
Blessed convos
Wise counsel
Good day’s journey
Back in 2008, my friend Kellan and I gave a talk at OSCON advocating for a pubsub architecture for social protocols using XMPP. I talked about this work durning the Nostrica talk about the history of social protocols. The api we outlined is basically what Twitter implemented with Jaiku to do federated microblogging.
Folks might find the slides and write up interesting.

Jaiku… memories 😢
Got in 27mi of mixed road cycling yesterday. Pulled out the Brommie for a few miles and the #CafeOffice for today’s jaunt.
Feels like I should sleep really well tonight. Legs def had their due
There’s lots of folks who come, then leave. So many nameless people who’s actions shape our towns, our communities, our very homes. We rarely know those folks… but sometimes we do. Honor those folks while they are here. Your foundations come from their lives.
#RIP Mr. Brundage
It’s been two months since my ebike stopped working… and I miss riding one.
Thing is, still can’t decide on whether to go eBrommie or something else. Cause if eBrommie, I already see *all the mods* which will happen.
Shame the Vello+ can’t be shipped. Would love to have that one 🤤
So now you must upload a Gov issued ID. How is no one talking about the implications of KYC on #Twitter blue
I’m just waiting for the breach to happen…

If they are using the services I’m familiar with, there’s nothing of that ID stored w/Twitter at all; services usually just pass back (to Twitter) with a “this person is, isn’t, or can’t be authenticated”
Authentication services are an interesting space. Some decent risk management happening, and also some crappy UX
Each week, I post an image/screenshot of notable items which passed thru my reading space. Sometimes there’s commentary alongside, sometimes there’s other writings.
Here’s this week’s share from Avanceé (reposts, reacts, or zaps welcome) https://www.avancee.agency/2023/03/24/avance-reads-for.html
