That’s the crazy thing about what pubky is building. They keep positioning as competing with Nostr, but I don’t see why that has to be. The actual pubky DNS layer can be used independently and it’s really lightweight from what I understand. A new way to provide additional robustness and censorship resistance at the relay layer would be a huge benefit, imo

I think we need to red pill every small store like barbershop or something to create circular economy.

Yesterday, my wife and I stopped at the donut shop after church to get a dozen donuts. As we were choosing donuts, my wife told the guy that she wanted a couple of one kind to which he answered, “how many?” She says two. She picks another kind and says she’ll take a couple. He again asks, “how many?” Two. After we get out to the car, we relay this interaction to the kids and the teen girls defended him saying a couple doesn’t denote a specific number so he was right to question. My wife and I both said we’ve always known a couple to mean two and that it’s pretty well defined. The teens rebel and tell us why we are wrong. My wife pulls out the dictionary, multiples actually, to define the word couple which supports our knowledge of a couple as being two. The teens say a couple in the legal sense means two, but in any other sense is undefined and can mean anything. We go back and forth.. my wife gets upset. The teens get upset. I ask when did this change and got a response from the teens about how language changes over time. Yes, girl, I know that. I’ve been on this planet a lot longer than you have. But still every definition we could find of the word couple always came back to two.

I’m curious what everyone thinks the word couple means in terms of a number. What do you think?

He built a captive portal that you log into and the page says — I take ecash from this one mint, get ecash from there and paste it into this text box — you paste it in, hit enter, and you’re online

You’ve made an offline payment and voila, you're now online

There are many exciting Bitcoin developments happening but it's becoming more clear that ecash is a wholly different, complementary technology that does different things, including many things that Bitcoin can't do no matter how many upgrades it gets

Twitter has end stage cancer by algorithm--one that promotes rage and attention seeking. As people who are repelled by such things leave, the dynamic is reinforced by the self-selected people who remain and the bots that game them.

Other social media communities exist that, while differing in details, lack this influence and this outcome.

Personally I've found the Fediverse (usually called Mastodon for its most popular client), and of course Nostr, immensely satisfying for this reason. Very different communities with very different norms, but neither suffer (at least in my corner of each) from this kind of perpetual rage bait and "engagement" seeking.

Yes, there is much objectionable (to me) content on both, but it is much easier to ignore as it is not promoted in your face.
