Thanks for that. I'll take a look at that tonight. Cheers.

I asked Mallory this also: to find specialized interests outside of BTC, what app(s) do you recommend for finding/searching out the largest variety of currently in-use hashtags?

Thanks nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg for posting the link to the first chapter. I used ChatGPT to find all of the other chapters, but AI is not perfect and gave me a bunch of incorrect links. I posted them earlier without validating them. This new list is validated by humans - ME! They all work now. I manually updated all of the broken ones. Sorry for the mistake.

Enjoy!

Thank you very much for the pulling this together, Derek. I appreciate the access to this entire book. Will read this weekend.

I wondered if you saw yet. ; ) I premade my alert text response a few weeks back. It was fun to get it.

As an artistic video creator, I prefer to earn bitcoin for my work. Why?

It grants me greater freedom of expression because I donโ€™t have to earn via an ad-driven algorithm AND it connects me more directly to my audience. It allows both me and my audience to receive the full value of my creations. It fosters a more personal relationship with viewers who want my work.

Also, bitcoin enables my audience and supporters from around the world to contribute almost effortlessly. There is no need for them to use credit cards, therefore they donโ€™t incur any of the fees associated with credit cards, such as the added cost of currency conversion.

Accepting bitcoin as a film/video creator aligns with my innovative spirit. it empowers me to keep focused on my creative endeavors while also participating in a forward-thinking community that values art and technology alike.

It's wild to me that Alphabet/YouTube can abuse viewer/listener attention to such an extent that they can succesfully charge us to NOT see ads, calling it "YouTube Premium", while simultaneously charging advertisers Premium rates on mostly no-value-added advertising. They "train" new creators to make their livings using this ad revenue model, as though no alternative could ever exist to successfully earn from one's creative efforts.

As a creator, I'd be willing to pay YouTube to not force relentless no-value-added content interruptions into every crevice of my work (now including the pause screen, further torturing the poor viewer's senses as he/she tries to perform the simple action of pausing the video.) I'd like to give my audience the sustained-engagement experience they were searching for in the first place. And if at any point I choose to promote another business or product in my work, I would like to vet and carefully consider who/what my audience and I will give our attention to.

Of course, I don't expect this last option to ever exist on YouTube.

In my experience, these are very old school, low-hanging-fruit, churn-and-burn, ultimately unfulfilling business models for those wired to create media of value for their audiences, as well as for users/audiences wired to find and appreciate media of value.

I think the number of viewers is on its way if we prepare correctly over the next couple of years - in terms of creating strong video content delivery applications that interface with users/viewers more like centralized platforms, and in terms of creators on nostr helping to inform devs about our needs and also helping new creators navigate the nostr landscape in the interim.

Thanks for that recommendation. As a user, I use NewPipe on my phone and Ungoogled Chromium with Ghostery on my everyday laptop, which seems to work pretty well.

Quality creator content is drowning in ads on YouTube, even when creators don't choose to monitize their work this way.

Here are 2 urgent and important reason we need high quality video/film content on Nostr where people can find it and watch with any level of sustained attention. First on Nostr, then on a Nostr video-to-television app (Nostr devs request).

1) Watching YouTube on your TV is about to get more frustrating if youโ€™re not paying to avoid ads. YouTube is bringing unskippable 30-second ads to TV and TV apps.

2) YouTube confirms it will now show ads when you pause videos.

Let's let creators choose how to monetize their content without torturing their audience.

This is a beautifully captured short film about a person who found her life and creative spirit in nature. Amazing Nordic wilderness. And so well told.

Animals are so great that way. My cat does something similar. She jumps up in the window sill to get my attention. She looks at me like, "Enough with the screens already!" Then I take her outside on the porch to play. ๐Ÿฑ

๐ŸŒป In general, does Geyser promote pleb/nostr/bitcoin-funded projects where the project doesn't necessarily involve coding/development?

Hello! ๐ŸŒป In general, does Geyser promote Pleb projects where the project doesn't necessarily involve coding/development? For example, regular quality video content to regularly infuse into the nostr ecosystem. I'd like to earn bitcoin only and shift everything from Patreon. (I've already departed from all other social media accounts and am focusing soley on nostr - uploading content to nostr.build). With my diverse video production background, I'd also like to expand my current quality offerings to additional genres/subject matter.

Actor Jason Alexander of Seinfeld and Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs talking about 1) media in 2024 and 2) how people are seeking meaningful, life-affirming alternatives to the continual deluge of intentional fear mongering. 5 and 1/2 minute excerpt
