the internet says a normal space heater uses 1500W.

if you use firmware like braiins, you can configure how much power the miner uses. I typically run my S9’s at 800W.

Ah i was reading they ran at 3000W. Didnt realize you could scale that way back. Hm...

do you ever run an electric space heater? if so maybe you can justify using an asic instead since it’s electricity you would’ve used anyway. this is how I look at my s9’s.

I dont run one typically. But is it roughly similar energy usage? I was under the impression it was a good bit more. At least for an S9

I find it more probable that the same financial instruments end up being built on top of bitcoin collateral. The importance of bitcoin as a currency is more felt in developing countries.

But even in that scenario, bitcoin becomes incredibly valuable

I'm not a dev myself so I can't help much on that front. However I'm hoping to see someone leverage some different organization of the songs on Wavlake -- ie. rankable by different metrics, expandable beyond 40, different search techniques and maybe even administering an artist account

Someone gives a shit about me and i get to learn something new so i can fact check another dumb fuck when needed.

Underrated scenario. The thought that I'm going to get fact-checked makes me pause to make sure I'm fully comfortable with what I'm putting out there. And then if I do get checked and I'm wrong, I learn. Iron sharpens iron.

I'd like to see more clients support third-party signers. I just about swear off of anything on Android that doesn't support Amber anymore.

I learn best by doing. Tinkering, breaking, fixing.

Now my server is stable and has required very little tinkering and fixing.

Amethyst has been pretty smooth imo

tagging. typing a note out and trying to tag someone, then realizing you cannot, copying all of the entire note to an external app, visiting nostr.band to copy the npub, then going back to the note, pasting the npub in, and then finally completing the note in app to post it. sometimes you can get away with just copying the note text, visiting the in-app search, typing their name, visiting their profile, then going back to the note creation screen and tagging them correctly without having to visit nostr.band. tagging is still the hugest pain in the asshole 12 months later. we can't be social if we can't even mention the people we want to be social with.

That's crazy scary. I have been pretty reckless with not backing up my stuff. I have been meaning to setup a NAS to make it more automatic.

I don't know what Syncthing is? based on this experience, would you recommend it?

Syncthing is open source and great for syncing a folder between multiple drives and multiple systems. Just gotta be careful of which drives you allow to be written to and which not. If you had a NAS, you might use Syncthing to handle automatic backups.

This year im looking to improve my backups as well. Ive been recommended Borgmatic Backup but have only started scratching the surface there.

If you like single-player RPG experiences, it's one of the best out there right now. Pretty tough but worth the learning curve.

I was contemplating upgrading my video card and trying some games. Searched for what's popular and surprised to see nothing has changed much. Same games from decades ago still most popular, with some exceptions.

Wow had my ass screwed and then saved by Syncthing.

Went to work on a beat last night and my audio drive was empty.

EMPTY.

Like ALL MY SHIT IS GONE kind of empty.

After I finished shitting myself, I realized I had another backup that was intact. Crisis averted.

But wow Syncthing can just straight wipe everything if you're not careful. This time I've set it so my audio workstation is set to SEND ONLY and my backup server is RECEIVE ONLY.

Just sharing my insane experience over the last handful of hours. 😁

taking a more balanced approach moving forward. cash to #btc, stack in #corn, continue testing lightning, cashu and liquid, use sparrow whirlpool, spend in monero, lightning, pay non-subscription payments with #bitrefill or tbc gift cardss, and keep using privacy(.)com virtual cards for fiat only subscriptions.
