I like lots of things: outdoorsy stuff, photography, music, gardening, Drupal, programming, universities.

A good resource for this information is http://mactracker.ca which is an app that has a huge database of all Apple devices ever made, detailed specs, max official (and unofficial) upgrades, and max supported OS version.

I realize your catch-22 of needing an Apple device to look up your first Apple device you don’t yet own. So, here are screenshots of the iPhone XR record. It supports the latest iOS, so it should be pretty capable of pretty much anything.

“#Nostr a new concept for The Web. It prioritizes user choice over all else, returning publishing power to the people.”

And if they want more detail…

“The Web used to be awesome. Back when it started, it was a revolution like the invention of the printing press. No longer was mass-publishing controlled by a few large, faceless media companies. Anyone could have a web site and everyone could read it. While that’s still technically true, in practice The Web has been co-opted by new, large, faceless corporations who are not only once again controlling virtually all publishing, but conducting mass-surveillance and directing public sentiment while they do it.

“Nostr is still small right now, but the few of us who know about it are excited and see the potential for it to once again disrupt the cycle of the powerful accumulating more power, and exerting more influence, at the expense of the people.”

That’s the same thing. Companies don’t become megacorps who think they’re above the law without some sort of monopoly.

Cory Doctorow calls it “Too Big to Care”: https://pluralistic.net/2024/04/04/teach-me-how-to-shruggie/

The one real purpose that a government should serve is a mechanism by which The People can band together and stand a chance against large, rich, powerful entities who seek to use their influence against weaker individuals for their own gain. These entities could be warlord countries, KKK, mob bosses, or, yes, monopolistic corporations.

DrupalCon is a great event. Bitcoin event organizers could learn a thing or two.

My Mexican friend told me she once bought soy chorizo, thinking it was a brand name, like “I Am Chorizo”. She was very disappointed.

I don’t like password, though. The convention is that passwords can be changed, which means people are less careful with them.

Be careful. This can introduce Botulism.

I’m sure you’ll pick it up on a week or two.

My Prusa is jacked up. I don’t know what to do with it. I’ve spent dozens of hours calibrating, adjusting, replacing nozzles, I’m just getting sick of dealing with it.

Isn’t there like some 3D Printer mechanic in town I can take it to and just say: “fix it”?
