I started out with 9 relays when I created my profile here. 4 are dead now and Nostr is a lot bigger. I don’t think it’s fair to say that there will be more relays as it grows and not have a clear incentive you can point to for why people will suddenly run more.

I think all the recent events with Telegram and Samourai should be a clear indicator of where things are going.

Having many relays doesn’t help if they all have nice URLs and the operators can be easily identified.

Everything is high risk if you’re a fucking pussy.

It amuses me to no end to see Bitcoiners acting like Buttcoiners with regard to nostr.

I do wonder how much of this can be attributed to maximalist culture making people more close minded and pessimistic.

I'm not interested in all the ways nostr can fail.

I'm interested in all the ways it can succeed.

I’ve stopped liking notes.

I either zap or comment.

If I comment, I definitely zap.

Doesn’t have to be a lot but it shows I’m engaging in a way that is beyond legacy and what only Nostr enables.

It feels good doing this. I’ve found my recipe.

Do you have an example? How does the client (e.g. snort) then get the key from said "secure dedicated app"? Snort needs that secret in plain on its own.

How does that help? Providing sensitive information to another party is always insecure. Adding another party as an additional set of eyes isn't improving anything.

Isn’t the biggest concern here that Nostr is such a high maintenance, potential security risk? As a new Nostr user, should this concern me?
