#Permaculture and idiocy

Didn't come here last week as my car was being serviced and now everything has box blight due to the constant rain this year. So to help combat it seaweed wcap (water soluble calcium) made from vinegar and eggshells, some potsil for silica and some seaweed to de-stress the plant and give it some trace minerals.

Next season I will try the equisetum fpj.

When you make it or buy it's not necessarily charged up so I wondered what you put in it. If it's supercharged what are using to charge it? Or is that some sort of product name I am not familiar with?

What did you add to innoculate it?

It's better to ask what are the useful as they are all mostly useless by now. Even if you get it decent degree that land you a job was it actually worth the cost?

Making a horsetail (equisetum arvense) fpj if you look at Dr Duke's plant database you can see its highest in Si (Silica) and also very high in Ca (Calcium) for the plants he has tested...both these elements are critical for resistance to fungal plant diseases issues like powdery mildew, rusts etc as they affect plant cell integrity.

Going to make a amaranthus based one later if I can find some plants before any potential frosts. Being a calcium rich fpj it may need some eventual filtering so it doesn't clog up the sprayer....and we want to spray it to get the calcium to where it's needed in the plant cell walls.

Calcium and silica rev.hodl been a persistently awful summer here so I have been battling it all season. 😭 I have been using potsil and water soluble calcium as a foliar (diluted crushed egg shells in cider vinegar as a foliar spray) which works well when used consistently.

However for next years potential grey weather I am starting to gather horsetail (equisetum arvense)for an fpj as looking at it's mineral profile it has boat loads of both which should prevent the mildew from forming.

Happy to post you some seeds don't think Scion wood would make to the states. That being said it's so old you might be able to find it somewhere there already. I was surprised to find you can get some perry pear varieties which people bought in a long time ago from the U.K.

Pitmaston pineapple old English variety of #apple from 1780 that tastes similar to pineapple 🍍.

Sadly the pineapple flavour doesn't come through when fermented into #cider but I need some more juice to top up the barrel and it should go well with the Herefordshire redstreak, Yarlington mill, foxwhelp and other cider apple juice already in there...

Wars and conflict germinate best in poor #soils.

Go read 'dirt' by David R Montgomery for a better overview of this

My daughter who is nearly 7 saw a picture of me with her when she was just born and said "wow you have really aged"...er thanks 😂

I must agree also some patterns change think about cymatics change the sound frequency and the pattern changes. Or think about fractals zoom in the pattern changes but sometimes it ends up going back to the same place.

Glad I was too ill to go to work this morning!

Turned it into a really fun angle grinding hammer smashing kind of day. Needs more work but I look forward to seeing if this #biochar kiln / oven will work in the near future.

Want some decent engineering/fabrication tips that are not a load of click bait made up sloblocks.

Using some of them now so yes it's worth the effort of watching

More barrels to make into #biochar kilns....the cost? Two packets of chocolate Hobnobs for as many as I want... pretty good deal even if inflation seems to have hit Hobnobs pretty hard!
