Ok.... interesting sidenote is I recently read a scientific type book about dopamine and if my understanding is correct the idea of euphoria that we get when fulfilling our desire(like follower counts/likes) is not actually dopamine. It's another hormone/neuro tansmitter. The role of dopamine is more linked to an anticipation or desire. So there's more of a dopamine buzz, for example in waiting for the lottery numbers to show and not in when/ if you actually win.

I'm gonna enjoy the dopamine anticipation of being told that is total crap and I've misinterpreted the science😉😎

I'm interested in knowing more about that. I dropped out of the internet for the most part in mid/late 1990s. Zero social media until last year when I joined Nostr. So maybe an age difference in attitude? Do you think that a lot of users are interacting with the intention/dream that it will provide them an income?

I can understand for the engagement farmers who use social media users as their yield but most of us aren't doing that.......are we?😬

So I'm wondering what the point of having a followers count is for?

It is of no consequence that we know how many people follow us. We write a note, maybe someone replies/likes or users interact. It doesn't matter to know how many followers we have.🧐

What percentage of your followers are some form of bot/ spam created npub? I reckon about 50%.
