asking the most clueless questions about life @spirko sent me

This is humanity. No training courses. No badges. No "DEI". No certifications. No pension plans. No hierarchy. Just human beings being selfless and saving the life of another human being. This is what happens when no one is watching. This will never be on your "news channel". The headline won't be "people do for another what they would have done for them".

LOL I did like 40 years without internet...this would be a blessing

Exactly. If those in power had no workers, they would have no power. The slaves are building the fences to keep themselves in, guarding the gates, installing the gas chambers and killing themselves. Those in power do nothing but threaten the slaves with punishment from the other slaves.

Not on the large majority. Perhaps on the large majority of the ruling class. The proles remain generally aghast at both the actions of Israel as a nation and also at those who clearly support it. But, the proles are powerless until they find that the ruling class may rule over the proles only with the willingness of the proles to support the ruling class. If the proles were to do something as mundane as simply stop showing up to work for government work - clerical services, payroll, janitorial services - the ruling class would become powerless over the proles. First it would be "who's going to fill the toilet paper" and finally it would be "who will take up arms against their own people in order to enforce our rule". Then? Worldwide peace. Parents tending to their children. Workers earning enough to feed themselves.

But none of this happens because the proles are complicit in their own slavery. Thus the ruling class does literally whatever it wants with impunity.

I've actually proposed doing just this. An ideal business to start doing this is a popular restaurant. Trendy restaurants are often known to have irregular hours anyway.

How about a restaurant that opens "at dark" and stays open until "everyone is fed or we run out of food". Which days? "Most of them". "We'll post a sign if we aren't going to open the following evening".

I think that would work. You may need a couple of shifts, depending on how popular the restaurant is. After that? Places of work that are open "during the day". Barbers, other personal services, maybe breakfast or brunch spots. Slowly start conditioning folks to not look at their watches or worse, their phones...

Imagine a small group of humans, who after working as bartenders and waitstaff at a bar, decide to open their own bar. They start putting together the elements - they have the property, they are building the paraphernalia necessary to open a bar - a bar top itself, chairs, booze, lighting, refrigeration, glasses - but then someone says "we need a bouncer". "We need to protect the bar from threats both external and internal (drunkards looking to start a fight or worse)". The others agree and they hire somone for the sole purpose of being for "the common defense" of the bar.

But over time, the bouncer begins getting more intrusive. He demands control of the supplies going in and out of the bar, who gets hired and fired, and ultimately demands controls of the finances of the bar "in order to defend the bar against threats". Meanwhile., the bouncer is teaming with other bouncers at other bars, and those bouncers now have their own market where they exchange funds, make hiring decisions, making bulk supply orders on which the bouncers skim a discount and charge the regular price to the bars.

At what point did the founders of the bar lose control of their bar? It was so long ago that no one even remembers a bar before the bouncers had taken control.

Ring a bell at all? Anything?

whoa whoa whoa there! That $750 is a LOAN, not a gift. pay that back, you slack jawed yokels!

Now now. I know that it's easy to say that Biden is the worst USA president of all time, but you have to credit Biden for the respect he shows to Woodrow Wilson. Biden isn't coasting here. Wilson held the title for over a century. Sure, Biden is kinda running up the score now, but being even worse than Wilson is truly an 'unprecednted' event.

Is it bullshit? Yup. If it's on that little box, in your hand or in your living room, it's bullshit. If it's coming out of anyone with any kind of authority's mouth, it's bullshit. If it's in print, it's bullshit. If it's on #nostr...well maybe it's bullshit, but at least it''s entertaining.

Need a bullshit detector? You're born with one. Here's an article that reminds you how to use it:

The French Quarter is the only part of the city that has cameras and microphones on literally every corner. While the city has enjoyed a decline in crime over the past 18 months or so, the French Quarter has seen record number of murders. The cameras and microphones aren't there for safety. They do not stop bullets nor pickup trucks. All they do is collect data. On everyone. Make no mistake - although New Orleans is known as "the city that care forgot", the government, though wildly incompetent, has been at the bleeding edge of the "New Order" for over a decade. Our former mayor, brother of former Senator Mary Landrieu, engaged the city with Palantir without notice nor approval of the city council nor of the Chief of Police. Remember that the Kennedy assassination ran right through New Orleans. Drink up and have fun, but know that New Orleans is Deep State Central.

...to keep the Israelis out so that the Syrians can be 'free and fair elections', right? RIGHT? #democracy

Happy New Year to all.

2024 has been a good year as far as Bitcoin price is concerned, but a bad year in terms of regulations.

The Travel Rule has come into operation, all 39 FATF member countries (including major ones such as the United States, Canada, Japan and most of Europe) are obliged to implement the Travel Rule in their local legislation.

For those who do not know, the Travel Rule requires the identification of beneficiaries and recipients of transactions over $1000 USD or equivalent.

On the other hand we have the European MiCA legislation that obliges cryptoasset service providers to give a lot of information about their clients to the corresponding tax collection offices.

It is more important than ever that you unsubscribe from all KYC services and start using decentralized and uncensorable services like Robosats or Bisq.

It is also important to create local communities that accept Bitcoin as payment for their services.

The regulators are winning the battle and the circle is closing, don't give me that nonsense about Bitcoin being uncensurable blah blah blah blah, they are making it 100% KYC and if you don't know how to get out of that vicious circle you are just another tax paying moron.

Look at the order book of Bisq or Robosats and you will understand why we are losing the battle, but you can remedy it, these platforms are safe and the more we are the lower the premium and above all accept payment in Bitcoin, avoid having to negotiate for Fiat.

Happy 2025 and take courage to life.

I still don't understand how this "Travel Rule" could be enforced in a casino. Many people lose over $1,000 in a single session of craps or video poker - will the casino be obligated to know the identity of each loser and report each loss (well, gain to the casino) that person incures?

Can't speak for college or healthcare, but the houses and cars sold in 1971 would not be desirable now. Roll up windows, AM radio, no air conditioning, no screen or cameras, bench front seat adjusts only forward and backward..and homes with 10' x 10' rooms, 1 bathroom per three bedrooms, 3'x6' closets...yes we are worse off but we're a lot more spoiled too.

Or at least provide internet connectivity for free. I don't have enough money for nor any place to put art, but I do what I can.

so, these payments should be visible to those who have access to the blockchain (read: anyone). Can someone verify these payments? They should be large enough in size that they stick out.

The reason why I am asking about this is that everyone seems to think that bitcoin or another coin will eventually be used by governments, but if the blockchains are visible, won't that mean that all government payments would also be visible? I wonder how the USG feels about that....
