That's awesome. One of the things I love about the mountains out west. We don't get anything quite so epic here in the Northeast, but they are sure still fun to hike.

I have considered upgrading to a mini pc or something else cheap off ebay and use the pi for a nostr relay or something of the sort. It'll run Knots (which I'm sure helps over bitcoin-core with sane mempool policy) and Electrs fine enough, with BTC-RPC-Explorer. All I really need it to do for a start. Realizing I can use Phoenix for my zaps makes me not care so much about running a full lightning node at this point. If anything I was thinking of taking a crack at Ashigaru Dojo, which seems like it'll be intensive.

It DOES at least say "Do not fall for scam tokens."

Not really their fault if people can't read the sign. Like smoking in front of a No Smoking sign.

Woo, you get weather my Mickey Boots are made for. I rarely get to wear them -- anything above 0 and they're way too hot.

I believe Change Agent was the last I read -- I need to catch up for sure. Change Agent was a little different and while it wasn't done badly it wasn't as much what I was looking for to the extent that his first 3 books were. Seemed like he was just trying something new.

GM. And yea, that sounds about right. @ODELL yells it the loudest.

It's hateful towards the illegal acts of occupation, apartheid, and genocide.

Of course...all things we should hate.

Among those I think the Quran delves most into what we usually think of as economics (broader scope of 'all human action' notwithstanding). I don't love some of the rigidity around interpretation there is with it or any other Abrahamic tradition even if I do understand some historical forces that encouraged that approach.

The Pali Canon went a long way in perhaps getting me to that view. Stories of the infinite divisions of things in different ways can, on a level, be simultaneously true, if those divisions have more to do with perspective of the observer, looking at an underlying reality that is unified (or, as Crowley and perhaps other Kabbalists might say, is 0). At the end of the day we live in our own experiences and understanding, by which we can compare and evaluate these stories. Of the 'world outside' we can't ever really know anything.

And that's fine. Knowledge is fiat, Wisdom is hard.

I can't take too much credit there. I try to keep it tidy but the hired housecleaner had just come earlier for a deep clean. I wish I knew how she gets the induction cooktop so clean. Closest I get is barkeeper's friend but it's never quite so spotless.

Some #ProofOfWok.

No hay cuentas en Nostr; solo llaves. Y puede usar los llaves en cualquier applicación que quieras.

Congrats on levelinng up! Hope you got some good skill points to spend.

Alternatively, hodl bitcoin. Though I can't promise you'll only 10x...

#GM. Even though it's -4° F(reedom units) outside. Even though I woke up almost an hour before I needed to unable to get back to sleep. Even though my hair clippers did their best impression of a chainsaw at 4:15 am and surely woke up my house, but only AFTER I had started cutting so I had to finish. Even though my car was iced up and I made a view-hole in the ice about 6" in diameter to drive into the office today.

Sometimes you just have to choose to have a good day. And that's where I'm at. So choose to have a good day. It's free.

Enjoyed some snow here as well. Hope my neighbors who gave me a snowblower don't mind, I'm still shoveling it all by hand. Ice skating and skiing are great, but it's hard to beat snow shoveling for winter activities.

Honest question: Why do so many people want Ross Ulbricht pardoned today?

Is it because his sentence was extremely harsh?

According to GPTs, a fair sentence for crimes similar to Ulbricht's might be:

- Drug Trafficking: 15-30 years

- Hacking: 5-10 years

- Money Laundering: 10-20 years

Aggregated, possibly 20-40 years concurrently, considering first-offense, no proven violence, and potential for rehabilitation.

He’s served 11 years and 3 months.

Best explanation I’ve seen is by Rep. Thomas Massie nostr:npub1jadxeczshxk2x0yuuz9gpd6jpmy5j8vkh3mluxk2jqa32fclf6mq70u6f3 and his short video posted on X/Twitter. He argues that he set up a website which enabled others to sell drugs and those drug dealers are already free while Ross remains in prison.

To play devil’s advocate, you could argue that the website enabled thousands of illegal transactions - including, as some allege, listings for murder-for-hire. If true, the punishment might fit, given the site's total reach.

I’m genuinely curious because I don’t know enough about Ross or his case. I’ve seen many calling for his release (#FreeRoss) and would love to understand their perspective.

Personally, I think Ross has served enough time. Double life plus 40 years is excessive for a young person who launched a website and got in over their head. At the same time, I see the potential real-world harm the site may have caused, especially if murder-for-hire claims are true.

If it were me, I’d hope for the benefit of the doubt and a chance to prove I’ve learned from my mistakes.

I know a lot of folks here on Nostr are vocal about this like nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx - would be interesting to get their take.

They let Noriega out after 17 years on good behavior.

Nuff said.

#GM. My #Bitcoin #Node finally finished syncing yesterday, running #Knots (to fight mempool spam) after over 3 weeks (note to anyone starting up: a raspberry pi 4 and a mechanical usb 3.0 drive CAN work, but you'll rip your hair out in the process -- glad mine's already shaved off). Got ElectRS coming together now. I've had some bitcoin since 2013, but as #Bitcoiners are people who run the bitcoin software, I think I can finally honestly call myself a bitcoiner (though, okay, I did run it on a laptop briefly in 2010...but with a 0 balance). Glad to have finally made it.
