This almost needs an nsfw warning haha.

Guess when it comes to #Windows, some things never change.

Might be motivation to get a new power supply for my #Slackware desktop...

It's easy to separate the art from the artist. All you have to do is make sure you're downloading it on Bittorrent so you're not funding their degeneracy ;-).

But seriously though, yea, I'll listen to Burzum even though Varg is a raging nativist. Because I'm not listening to his music for his ideas, but rather, the sounds.

I may have a harder time reading Neil Gaiman at this point though. Because I WAS reading him for his way of thinking, and his way of thinking, if followed into the dark alleys where it leads, apparently probably isn't the best thing to be following. At the very least it'll be with a more critical eye.

It's one thing to play with control and power. It's another to dehumanize people.

Personally I just use my lightning address and don't use a primal address at all (which admittedly is less convenient when I am happening to be using primal, but I really just didn't want another kyc place to hold bitcoin). You absolutely could do this by adding your @strike address to your profile as your lightning address. Not 100% sure what'll happen with the primal wallet though -- it'll still be there, and I would mostly expect that all zaps should go to your strike address, but I'm curious if you may run into weirdness from people also using primal.

I think a QR code for your lightning address might be even better. Scanning tits to zap 'em would be pretty novel.

And yes x21,000,000 to "Zap that Ass"

Been living the mud\wtr life myself. Like that they donate to MAPS, love all the health benefits of mushrooms, and that between a cup of that and my bowl of ceremonial matcha in the morning, i've cut out all other caffeine in my life for a few weeks (which may not sound like much, but trust me, it's a SIGNIFICANT cut back).

Primal is on android too, as well as desktop on the web, so if you're really just getting people onboarded, it may be helpful to start there and let people venture off into some other stuff. You MAY want to work with communities to really find all of each other easily, though that may take using something other than primal (or I'm just not seeing it quickly there; I normally use Nostrudel on my desktop).

You don't NEED to have your own relay, but you may find for some of this sort of content specifically it may be helpful for cultivating the sort of things you want that other relays may not really wish to have as much anyway. Theoretically being on separate relays shouldn't matter so much anyway, given how discovery works, but I'm not the guru to get the ins and outs of how they really do work from.

As for paywalls, I have seen zpay.live used for some content, though it does require a getalby.com address for right now. I think there are other things out there but I have to say I'm not the biggest consumer of paid content (more V4V oriented myself).

I love the BDS angle of smashing through the OnlyFans nonsense, and frankly, taking some sovereignty in an industry that frankly has been pretty skeevy for...well, probably as long as it's been an industry, with regards to the pimps and analogs thereof. There will be some work that goes into really replacing all of the rails they've built, but considering they often take 50%+ as the total parasites they are, I do suspect it'll be worth it (and hopefully early adopters such as yourself can stand to reap some of the benefits of doing so).

I'll try to remember to throw projects your way when I see things that seem relevant.

I'd almost be curious about moderation in your line of work being tricky. Between identity verification and centralized banning of users, there's a degree of sanity that can arise from the ...sometimes less than polite nature of consumers. I guess that might be something that can be addressed paid (or at least registered) relays. Sort of glad it hasn't become the issue it almost certainly will at some point. I've actually been pushing Nostr at some others in the space just to get some breathing room from the mouth breathing incel crowd. Not everyone here is going to particularly look highly on the industry, which is fine and all, but at least they're not gonna be goons either.

Clients can do what they want, relays can do what they want, and users can do what they want. If you want to do something your relay doesn't, use a different relay. If you want something your client doesn't, use a different client. And if a user is doing something you don't like, look at a different user.

Yea, none of them are really my thing either. But, at one point years ago, Julian Assange called her the world's finest mouthpiece for truth. So I paid attention.

Yoy SHOULD expect to read a little if you're learning an OS. Would you trust a Bitcoin signing device that hid all of the functionality away from the user? Being sovereign involves not being given, but taking ownership and responsibility over and for yourself, your property, and your actions. Not handing it all to someone else.

But yes, Slackware makes doing so easier than say, LFS.

I use slackware as a general Desktop OS. just do a full base install, install slackpkg to grab stuff from slackbuilds.org, and make sure to grab the queuefile for it which will, for the most part, automate most stated dependency grabbing for you.

It makes thinngs as easy as they should be without trying to make them easier and breaking shit in the process. And there's a great bunch of documentation and helpful community. Best of all the packaged software is as vanilla as can be so official docs work too!

So, I guess it's official: The Secret Service really isn't bothering to stop any #terrorist or otherwise would be assassin from trying to kill the president. Glad they've cleared that up. #FreePalestine

Ahh. I don't zap at all with primal; not really interested in kyc sats. Glad they're there as an onboarding tool, and the experience is quite smooth. Wish they made it easier to just direct the zap button to an outside lightning wallet. But, lucky for me, I don't have to pick just one client. That said, Nostrudel does most anything I want on the desktop space. Once in a blue moon I'll open up Primal or Satellite.earth or Coracle though.

To play devil's advocate, there is a security angle to it if you want marginally better, if you're not concerned with loading your phone with functionality.

Somewhat beyond anything I'd personally tolerate, and I'd likely sooner just get a feature phone or use a computer for necessary applications that needed that degree of security, if I couldn't get it from an alternative OS. But I do leave room for it not to always be a 100% stupid idea.

But yes, the vast majority, I have to scratch my head over. I've long characterized Apple devices in the way I first heard from Sean Kennedy, of RantMedia: Fisher-Price computers. Round corners, so you don't gouge out anyone's eyes, and childproofed in just about every way they could think of. Great if that's what you're going for (I'm certainly not letting my 80 year old mom try carrying around an Android device), but utterly intolerable if you're trying to do something Tim Apple didn't intend.

That said, Google blocking Miracast support on the Pixel is definitely them learning a piece of the wrong lesson. PinePhones really would do well to get development going faster.

#GM. Got a snow and ice storm coming today, and they canceled school, so both my wife and kid are home today for my day off. And work wouldn't even let me pick up overtime :'-(. Love the family, but having the day to myself for the most part at least until 3 pm is definitely a nice part of my week. At least I wake up earlier than everyone else, and between grocery shopping, dog walking, and snow shoveling today will get my time to listen to podcasts today.

Also, got some pretty awful news last night. My younger brother's in the hospital, having apparently lost 50 lbs over the last 3 weeks as he's drifted into a diabetic ketoacidosis state, on the brink of diabetic coma. Thankfully my parents live nearby, and drove over when he was slurring words and disoriented on the phone. Guess he hasn't eaten in weeks. Never had a particularly healthy diet or lifestyle, so it's not the biggest surprise, but it did certainly escalate very suddenly -- hoping it serves as a wake up call he's able to turn around from, as he is only 35. I'm a firm believer in these events having the ability to be a blessing in disguise, but only if they're able to be seized upon. Anyway, if you're the praying type, I'm sure he could use all the help he can get.

Never a dull moment. Meanwhile, glad to see MSTR didn't adopt the new FASB rules yet -- I was worried they were going to end these sale prices on sats. Buying below $100k is like snapping up islands for beads. Reminder, in a world of 8 billion people, everyone's equal share of #Bitcoin is 262,500 sats. Which at $100k/BTC amounts to 36.2 hours at FEDERAL minimum wage of $7.25/hr. Enjoy it while it lasts friends.
