Not sure if this is true, but from what I understand, they have the additional problem that raising prices doesn’t help them because they have to pass any surplus on to the labels anyway.
In other words, their only path to profitability is 1) hoping for better bargaining power in the next cycle of contract renewals and 2) reducing overhead

Spotify just tanked on reporting another huge loss and increasing their prices. I wonder whether their business model is sustainable at all especially when they are competing with the tech giants who are bundling music into other services?

I don’t think requiring payments fully fixes the bot problems. With more sophisticated AI there will be increasingly bots that are able to profitably able to spam these platforms even if they have to pay for it.
Anyway, I’m not trying to protect Elon and I’m all in on nostr, I just think that if our hypothesis is right, we will not have to fight them with their own populist and attention seeking weapons, in fact it will be counterproductive.
This is where we’re going to learn how sticky these streaming services actually are.
