I’ve followed the rabbit-hole path — Bitcoin HODL → Nostr → reclaiming self-sovereignty → enjoying zaps.

Then it hit me: no one around me uses Nostr or even holds Bitcoin.

So yes — I’ve officially become a decentralized otaku.

I’ve had this story in my mind for eight years.

In the early 13th century, a child growing up among the scholars of Bayt al-Hikma in Baghdad feels painfully ignorant compared to them. One day, he hears the saying: “Seek knowledge even if it is in China.” These words inspire him and he leaves to find knowledge in China.

Along the way, he passes through the Artuqid Empire, where he witnesses the works of al-Jazari, the early examples of robotics. Later, he meets Ibn al-Baytar and learns botany from him. He then encounters Zakariya al-Qazwini, even inspiring him to write Aja’ib al-Makhluqat (The Wonders of Creation).

Throughout his travels, he learns much and teaches others what he has learned.

Eventually, he visits Razia Sultan, the Turkish woman ruler of Delhi. His journey lasts for decades, taking him all the way to China.

It is the story of a lifelong journey of knowledge and discovery. Researching for this story gives me with endless inspiration.

So next week I'll actually be presenting at the Halal Money conference in the Bay Area insha Allah.

I have a session where I'll be talking about "digital assets" 😒 but obviously this will be about Bitcoin.

I only have a 20 minute session, so I'll do 15 minute presentation and 5 minutes for questions.

Yeah, the material wealth aspect is a big part of it I'm sure. And I think just on first glance, it just seems like socialism is more fair therefore it's more Islamic. And it's so much easier to blame "capitalism" than taking time to understand the malincentives caused by usurious fiat money.

No Twitter on my phone for about a year now. Life much better. More attention on my family when I’m with them. Scrolling was causing neck pain on the side I hold my phone. Inner peace is the way. I still tweet from the desk and wish my business model didn’t depend on social media promo so much, but alas.
