Methane is converted to Hydrogen via steam reforming, the waste CO2 is the injected into oil wells where it ultimately leaks into the atmosphere anyway.
Itās just the fossil fool industry trying to stay relevant.

The UK wants energy independence.
The UK is one of the best placed countries for Wind, and ok for solar. While there has been some progress in wind offshore, it has been virtually banned on shore.
What little oil we have is out in the North Sea & the bit we had developed we sold to oil companies.
How is it not blindingly obvious to politicians in particular @grantshapps MP Energy Secretary that Wind, Solar and #EV s are the solution.
Only conclusion, the Government is captured by the Fossil Fuels industry.
Wind & solar doesnāt need to be reliable. The money saved on not Building Nuclear could buy huge quantities of Solar Wind & batteries & be up and running in <3 years.
BEVās will soak up Renewables when itās cheap & abundant . EVās can last days to weeks without charging. This is already happening, just needs scaling up. Also Vehicle To Grid. If 10M vehicles give 10kWh each is 100GWh battery
Base layer is a myth, batteries can now provide grid inertia.
I donāt say this is easy. If we started 20 or 30 years ago, weād be much further on by now, but weāve had massive #population increase & nothing but delay tactics from Government , Fossil Fuels & the Nuclear industry.
Unfortunately, times up. The Planetās heat trap has been set in motion, the kettle has been switched on, weāre just waiting for it to boil now.
There is only damage limitation. 
EDF are broke. No private entity will build Nuclear because they just canāt make it pay. Thatās why theyāre all slyly lobbying for gov handouts. Theyāve been outcompeted by renewables.

Nuclear is 3x more expensive than renewables, and thatās before you add in decommissioning and waste storage AND its still adding to Global warming as itās ultimately additional heat energy, and wonāt be ready soon enough to curtail Fossil Fuels.
