Lurking, posting occasionally, and zapping anonymously. Observing always. Pulmonaut nostr-java is my hobby project.

This man owned the Regent Street the other day. All the ladies would stop to listen to him sing and they were tipping nonstop... 😎

(I felt it would be inappropriate to interrupt his groove just to ask if I could zap him 😅)

Yesterday, the Telegraph reported on “new research” (https://web.archive.org/web/20230604225336/https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/06/04/first-lockdown-prevented-1700-deaths-landmark-study-finds/) which claims that lockdowns saved only 1700 lives in England and Wales. A “drop in the bucket” compared to the harms done:

The science of lockdowns is clear; the data are in: the deaths saved were a drop in the bucket compared to the staggering collateral costs imposed.”

This is not a revelation, it’s not an admission, it’s not the system checks-and-balances working. Rather, it is public relations, perception management. Just one more example of the revisionism we highlighted in the most recent…...

The people in charge during the lockdowns are still in charge today, to solve the problems they created (but are blaming Russia for)!

I lived in Dublin for three and a half years, that was twenty years ago. I remember I wanted to re-do my driving license there, but it was almost impossible to achieve it in a timely manner, for the same reasons you have mentioned. The waiting time for the driving exam was eight months!

Back then, the country's population had increased too fast, mostly from economic migrants, like me, who came to fill the many new jobs created in the tech industry, and the infrastructure was just not ready to cope with such an influx of new people. Everything seemed chaotic, and not to work...

I once sent my little one to a "science lab" for a week, he came back with strange and abhorrent ideas that were completely not age-appropriate, and had nothing to do with what the organisers had promised to teach the kids!

This was a wake-up call for me and I have since understood that we don't have to take a backseat when it come to the education of our kids.

My little one earns 100 sats for finishing a book (70 for comics). Since I started this 'bribe,' he reads more regularly.

Author Alfie Kohn (“Punished by Rewards”) disagrees with this approach, he makes a good case, but I considered counterarguments and went ahead anyway.

Today, we bought three new books. Can you guess which one I chose?

Today, I found an old wallet from my altcoin days. It had lost almost 90% in value, but still had relatively good money on it, though... 😎🙏

Yeah, It only rained downtown. There, it was back to normal half an hour later, as if nothing had happened...

Could it be that the free speech he's referring to is now a relic of ancient times, now incompatible with today's diverse society?

I don't know the answer, but I'm curious to know what you think, guys...

Makes me want to say that how we choose to interact with each other on this public square is where the real value of nostr lies.

Nip-xyz, zaps, and other technological features are nice-to-have, important, but secondary.
